In a city where the biggest acts are humbled by the ice cold stares of an unforgiving T-Dot audience, Mensa has been brought up to bring nothing but his A-Game on every occasion. With a golden touch that can satisfy the smallest of lounges to the thousands in attendance, Mensa has astonished crowds and brought parties to life across Canada, the US, and his native Philippines. Smooth mixing paired with a turntablist's sensibility make his sound hard to duplicate, and is quickly earning Mensa the title as the peoples' favorite.
At every party, Mensa makes it a personal affair, creating on-the-spot mixes that are tailored to the vibe and setting of every occasion, each and every night. As the DJ behind such acts as Cesar Comanche, Masia One and up and coming R'n'B artist Ayah, Mensa has found himself in unique venues, opening for such acclaimed recording artists like Kardinal Offishall, Lil' Jon, BrassMunk, DJ Premier, Goapele, Masta Ace, Digable Planets, J-Live, ?uestlove (of the Roots), and Pharoah Monch, to name a few.
Not only has this versatile DJ been steadily blowing up in the club scene, he has also left an indelible mark in the Toronto hip-hop community. He is the official DJ of The Inner City Visions Project, an urban music and culture based program for Torontos at-risk youth. For several years, Mensa has been heavily involved in running programs to introduce and promote the positive aspects of hip hop culture to young people across the Greater Toronto Area.
Having already made guest appearances on MuchVibe, Rap City, MTV Select and CBC, the word has spread about DJ Mensa. His Coolout brand mixes have gained love and respect both locally and overseas. His late night radio show on the Project Bounce Radio Network is rated number one in his timeslot two years running, and a slew of side projects and shows will have him occupied indefinitely.
But all in all, maintaining the vibe is what is paramount to Mensa. From the warm-up to cooldown, and everything in between, Mensa is always fully in the know.
