***I have a love for House, Drum & Bass, Funk, Soul,
you name it
Music is my LIFE, it's in my blood, and in my soul.
What is written below is
what I was feeling at the time,
I was on a "strict diet" of d'n'b,
but am back into all forms
of "aural pleasure".
Life & it's gravity
has held me down long enough.
It is now time for my "big break"!
Please check me out,
then help me out!!!***
~b~
born & raised in Detroit,
now in Cali,
just outside of SF (The City)..
i could play drums the first time i sat down at a set at age 9 or 10, amazing the whole family at a yearly Thanksgiving feast...
i had a love of classical music, mainly filmscores, since i was a kid, astronomy & all things Sci-Fi....
at the not-so-tender age of 11, i fell in love with the FUNK, some classic ROCK, but was too much of a bookworm to investigate who or what i had just heard.....
one day,
in 7th grade,
someone handed me
Prince "1999" on vinyl......
i then knew who it was & what i liked, and became "obsessed" with music (mainly Prince & related artists), and then came "electro" a.ka. "breakdancing music", and i became a (very good:) breakdancer.......
somewhere in a basement in Detroit,
i would mix Prince/related in
with my rap & electro jams,
and "create" my own music onto cassette,
onto a very sensitive-buttoned boom-box,
adding in my own (champion!;) beat-boxing,
and later figured out someone took my idea,
and "INVENTED" TECHNO........
mainstream music became "samey" & a bit boring towards the end of the 80's & into the early 90's, some amazing funk (DAG, Jamiroquai - the 2 funkiest EVER!!) came forth, and i loved TLC's "CrazySexyCool", but i needed something that included an amalgam of everything i had loved & lived up to that point.........
i worked for a very famous (but recently defunct) record store, and asked for some interesting promo's, where i discovered a couple "Acid Jazz" & "Trip Hop" CD compilations, loving the music right away (DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, DJ Cam, Woob, etc), i started buying CD singles of the tracks i loved so much, to hear (& have) all of the various remixes..........
on the same day, i picked up a Funki Porcini CD single for "King Asahabanapal", in which i heard (and was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by) the Dillinja remix, AND another Trip Hop compilation with T Power VS MK Ultra "Mutant Jazz"............
"OMmfnG!"
was all i could muster as my jaw dropped to the floor,
and my breath was taken from me,
as i had FOUND MY CALLING............
took me 3 years checking out gigs (J Majik, Ed Rush, Doc Scott, Peshay, LTJ Bukem) & shows (Roni Size & Reprazent with LIVE drums & stand-up bass!.... absolutely awesome!!), saving some money, putting up with life & it's gravity, to get an electronic music class, 2 semesters in a row, just to create what little i have.............
hopefully, with time & Money & HELP *(HINT-HINT!!!;), there will be MUCH more..............
....
..
..
..tracks are "demos of demos", raw, unfinished, but worth a listen... made 4 an"electronic music" class many years back, with about 4 hours studio time each....
these are just the templates of what i really wanted to do.......
Just finished directing/editing this music video "Chicken Grease" for my boyz "The Velvet Elvis" ---REPOSTS and COMMENTS are what gets the "VIRAL VALUE" up -so please do me that favor real quick, and as often as you may be inclined. gimme love, gimme hate, i dont care-just please leave a comment. takes a second...and SHARE it with all your friends.

You know, you don't have to keep rubbing it in that you live in Cali...or that you get to visit places like San Diego while I get to go to an exciting place like Ohio (Bleh!) hehehe
Yes, all is good on the home front! How are the boys?
