Fernando Medina Afonso, Nando Medina (también conocido como Dj Nando), nace en Puerto de la Cruz en la isla de Tenerife (Islas Canarias), el 25 de Marzo de 1982.
La música y la vida de Nando han estado unidas desde que él tenía sobre 6 años, cuando tiene su primer contacto con ésta, en unas clases de órgano electrónico, piano y teoría de la música cuando él era sólo un niño.
Después de algunos años de varios exámenes de órgano electrónico y de teoría de la música (solfeo), y de algunos conciertos en la isla, Nando tiene su primer contacto con la música electrónica cuando tenía sobre 12 o 13 años, ya que en ese momento su estilo de música favorita era el hip hop con artistas como Wu-Tang Clan, Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Lords of the Underground, Onyx, Alkaholiks, Public Enemy, Gangstarr, Jazzmatazz, Mobb Deep, Xzibit, Fugees, Naughty by Nature, Redman, Krs One, Jeru the Damaja, Foxy Brown, Nas, mixtapes como los de dj Funkmasterflex por supuesto, etc.
Entonces empieza a obtener muchas grabaciones en cintas de cassette de oldskool-hardcore, breakbeat y jungle de djs tanto locales (Tenerife) como internacionales de esos años, y su interés musical se convirtió en una combinación de hip hop y música electrónica con artistas tan conocidos como The Prodigy y Chemical Brothers por ejemplo...
En 1996 conoce a su buen amigo Daniel Amigó (conocido como Dj Melo) en el instituto en el que estudiaban, e invita a Nando a ir a su casa para escuchar algunos discos porque conoció su interés por el mundo de la música y del dj, y aquí es donde Nando tiene su primer contacto con el arte de los platos, y después de ese momento sólo piensa en adquirir el equipo Technics para empezar su estilo de vida como dj, con vinilos de oldskool-hardcore / breakbeat y más tarde también con discos de hip hop y r&b.
Nando se dedica a estos estilos y al d&b, porque siente que el drum & bass es la evolución de los primeros (hip hop y oldskool-hardcore / breakbeat), y siente gran interés en las nuevas producciones de este estilo, desde el estilo jump up el cual oye y pincha desde hace años, hasta los nuevos estilos de nuestros días.
Pero actualmente está más interesado en otro estilo musical electrónico: el House.
Después de que Nando usa por primera vez el Serato Scratch Live, y luego los Pioneer Cdj, es cuando comienza a desarrollar sus inquietudes musicales como dj. Él escuchaba y conocía el House desde hacía muchos años, pero comienza a pincharlo hace sólo algunos, cuando empieza a utilizar las nuevas tecnologías digitales para el dj. Es en ese momento, en el que nació su alias de dj completo, Nando Medina, para evolucionar a un serio y exclusivo nombre después de más de 10 años en la escena dj de Tenerife.
Nando Medina ha participado como dj en eventos o fiestas (puedes checkear sus flyers) en clubs de Tenerife como Impacto (Puerto de la Cruz, su primera vez como dj en un club año 1998), Plastic Fantastic, Bali, Xit, Fm, Penny, Studio 54, Kaché, K-Tira Beach, La Tertulia, Xitio, Sala Titanic, Sala Juanito, Kyoto actualmente Son, Yegua Loca, La Cúpula, Joy, Saloon del Vaquero (antiguo coyote), La Ola, Bobby's, Tropicana (Innovation summer in the sun The Tenerife Reunion 2007) y en la explanada del muelle de Puerto de la Cruz (Innovation summer in the sun The Tenerife Reunion 2008 y 2009). En Madrid en el club Ya’sta (drum & bass battle 2004) y en Málaga en el Break Retro Festival en el verano de 2008.
Nando Medina se dedica desde el Hip Hop a cualquier estilo electrónico, pero puedes escuchar minimixes de estos 3 estilos:

Fernando Medina Afonso, Nando Medina (also a.k.a. Dj Nando), was born in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) (Canary Islands), on 25 March 1982.

Then he starts to get many oldskool-hardcore, breakbeat and jungle cassettes recordings of the local (Tenerife) and international djs of those years, and his musical interest begins a combination of hip hop sounds and electronic music with the very known artists as The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers for example...
At 1996 he meets his good friend Daniel Amigó (a.k.a. Dj Melo) at the college where they studied, and he invites to Nando for going home for listening some records because Daniel knowed Nando's music and dj world interest, and there is where Nando takes his first contact with the turntablism art, and after that moment he only aspires to get the Technics equipment for begins in his dj lifestyle, with oldskool-hardcore / breakbeat records, and later with hip hop and r&b records.
Nando is dedicated to these music types and the d&b, because he feels that drum & bass style is the evolution of the first ones (hip hop and oldskool-hardcore / breakbeat), and he feels a big interest in the new productions of this style, since jump up style wich listens and djing years ago, until the nowaday new styles.
But actually he is more interested in other electronic music style: House music.
