Get your passports ready for the most successful international Mixtape DJ outside of the United States in history of the mixtape game. Reppin' Hannover, Germany, DJ Neptune found the love to HipHop & RnB back in 1993, while listening to "93' Till Infinity" by Souls Of Mischief. Inspired by his later mentor, the world famous "DJ Clue", DJ Neptune started back in 1998 doin' his own mixtapes. Always trying to create the best musical experience as possible. "My goal was to give my people the music that I love and let them feel what urban music is all about."
He's been workin' with several artists on mixtapes like Jim Jones, Trey Songz, Mobb Deep, world famous DJ Clue and producer extraordinaire Just Blaze. DJ Neptune was the first European DJ to drop a mixtape in the United States and supported breakthrough artists like Desert Storm's Fabolous, The Game and a very young Trey Songz as well as many upcomin' independent artists. In 2003 Neptune linked with "StreetSweepers" DJ Radio for the first official overseas mixtape release and collaboration in mixtape history. After several succesful mixtapes they dropped the classic "The Last Laugh"…"I think that was my breakthrough mixtape and perhaps Radio's best work ever.
"I've been in the game for a minute now and if you check my resume, all you see is straight classics. Mixtapes are the last imprint, where you can express yourself and play the music that you decide is the best unlike the TV and Radio industry today. That's why they're so important for the music. And someday I want to be remembered as a mixtape DJ, who dropped real quality tapes. Tapes you still can bang years after they've been released. I saw this awesome opportunity to reach people all over the world with my music and present them upcoming artists. [DJ] Clue opened the doors for so many of today's platinum recording artists back in the day. That was pretty inspirational."
In 2005 DJ Neptune dropped his world famous "Internationally Known" mixtape which gave him the spot as one of the most respected Mixtape DJs in the game and several sites compared him with veteran Mixtape DJs such as Clue, Whoo Kid and DJ Envy. "Once you in the game, you can learn from anybody. I've supported the biggest names by gettin' them exclusive music. Sometimes you gotta show love to those people. They will appreciate your help and bless you too." Later that year he collaborated with Jim Jones for "The V.I.P. Lounge". "That was a huge honor for me to work with Capo, because he never hosted a mixtape like that for another DJ before, except for [DJ] KaySlay."
Thanks to his old buddy Remo Da Rapstar, in 2007, Neptune had his first own radioshow at Eminem's Shade45 on Sirius Satellite Radio. "This was such a huge experience for me, being mentioned in the same breath as legends like Howard Stern and other radio personalities. Workin' for Sirius was truly an honor and maybe someday I'll do that on a regular basis. A good DJ is defined by the music he chooses and the response he gets from his listeners."
In late 2008 DJ Neptune shooked the whole mixtape game up with Mixtape King "Big Mike" by droppin "4Th Quarter Pressure", which had a never heard before Eminem record on it. "We wanted to do a mixtape collabo for years and now the time was right to make history. You see, this is what I do; I only drop mixtapes with a certain quality. My close friends, who really know me, will tell you how passionate I am when it comes to music. Without the passion there won't be any success. Always have to believe in yourself and try to be the best, no matter what other may say. Life is what you make it and not what other people tell you!"
Goin' back to the future, DJ Neptune created with his partners J.Bream and Mdepict their own imprint, the "Neptune Music Group". Focusing on signing new talents, producers and designers and preparing those artists for the music industry and supporting them on future projects…2009 is going to be the year of NMG!
