A small town choir boy from the rural Southwest, a young & naive Oli P had his first 1210 encounter at the ripe age of 15, soon after which he started making plans to get his hands on his own pair. Once the saving was accomplished, and the package purchased, he never looked back. Adoring most aspects of music, Oli's love affair with electronic music began at a young age. Experimenting with a huge range of music, starting with commercial house & trance, bouncing over the harder stuff, drum n bass, funky/jackin house, break beat, techno, you name it he's probably had a dabble in it. Early influences being Ben McGowan (a fellow Torquinian), Kev Walters, Tony de Vit, Graham Gold, the Tidy DJ's, Steve Thomas, Goldie, London Elektricity, Roni Size, Calibre, High Contrast and anything on Hospital Recordings, it was big names like Danny Rampling, Carl Cox & Pete Tong that were the pioneers in inspiring Oli to start spinning at a young age, and since then his tastes have expanded. Now his musical interests lie with electro, tech house, minimal, dub step, breaks & the progressive side of house, and he’ll also dabble in the funkier stuff from time to time. More recently the work of such DJs/producers like Deadmau5 (inspiration for the Deadmau5: A Tribute mix), Chris Lake, Pryda, D. Ramirez, D.O.N.S., Wolfgang Gartner, Thomas Gold, Dabruck & Klein, Axwell, The Aston Shuffle, Crookers, Mickey Slim, Stupid Fresh, Miles Dyson, Krafty Kuts and Eddie Halliwell... these artists really inspire & push Oli on to progress & succeed. Due to work & other commitments over the years the music had to take a back foot. However after a lot of hard work all the effort is starting to pay off. Resident at The Blush Lounge in Plymouth for his own night ‘Funkin Fresh’ and having also been associated with 'Breed' & 'FiftyPointFour' events in surrounding area, the ‘Surf’s Up Festival’ in Newquay and the ‘FNUK’ events in Weymouth, Oli's ready and wanting more. With a weekly residency on one of the Uk’s top online radio websites, Phatbeats.co.uk, coming live every Monday evening from 5pm, Olsta takes over in the home studio for a fully interactive 2 hours of funky house, electro, tech house, breaks & progressive… it’s an energetic show thats not to be missed. Also owing a lot of his success to www.mixupload.com, a 70,000 members music orientated DJ network, he’s built up a good fan base on the site with over 10,000 plays & 1000 podcasts. Oli’s media is regularly hitting the top spot of the Mixupload weekly & monthly charts.
