The meteoric rise of DJ Paulo during the past few years has been a blessing to those who prefer their beats with a bit more of an underground feel to them. A fixture on the Los Angeles club scene for years, Paulo has leveraged his critically acclaimed performance at the 2001 Palm Springs White Party into peak-hours success worldwide. During the past couple of years this truly international DJ – Paulo hails originally from Portugal – has planted himself firmly among the ranks of headlining DJs, performing at many prestigious parties: Black and Blue Montreal, New York’s Black Party, White Party Miami and Palm Springs, Sydney's Mardi Gras, Rio's Carnaval, Taiwan's "Ministry of Sound", just to name a few. Paulo also holds residencies at esteemed clubs such as New York's "Work" and Los Angeles' "Reflex". In Los Angeles, Paulo began building his popularity by spinning the Tom of Finland Man-o’-Rama parties. “The tremendous fanfare surrounding those parties opened a lot of doors for me,” says Paulo. “It led to opportunities outside of LA which eventually propelled me into the league of the national party DJs.” Past residencies for Paulo in the City of Angels include Stereo and Spin and he is now frequently in the DJ booths at Reflex, Avalon, Mayan, Here, and The Factory. Outside his Southern California homebase, Paulo has traveled quite a bit throughout the U.S. turning dance floors on with his tribalistic sound. Expertly combining heavy, yet energetic, beats with soaring vocal progressive tracks in his sets, Paulo has the unique ability to please a wide spectrum of clubbers and party-goer who keep the dance floor packed whenever he’s in the DJ booth. Booked and traveling to a gig almost every weekend of the year, Paulo’s club dates are as impressive at his party credits and include Mezzanine in San Francisco, Roxy in NYC, Score in Miami, Hydrate and Crobar in Chicago, Bodyshop in Atlanta, Internationally, Paulo has played various locations in Mexico and Brazil and wowed the whole country of Canada with recent appearances in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. Paulo has even had a playdates in Ibiza at Amnesia and Trade in London, an achievement that few American-based DJs can claim. Co-founder of Pure Music Productions, Paulo has built one of the hottest independent record labels-providing top 10 progressive tracks both on Beatport and other digital download sites. Together with Todd Dutkevitch, Paulo has created deep rhythms with original tracks such as "Ride The Beat", "Slave To The Rhythm", and "The Brazilian Rainforest" for Tribo Recordings. Paulo’s releases include “Luv To Luv” and "Fascinated", Suzanne Palmer remixes on *69 Records, Tommy Boy Records “Love Song”(an ode to the legendary Israeli songstress Ofra Haza) and "Lift It Up" by Inaya Day (#1 Billboard) and most recently a remix for DJ Chus "Black Rain" on the Stereo Productions. Paulo’s latest work includes a remix of Chaka Kahn and Mary J Blige's "Disrespectul" (#1 on Billboard). “My goal is to continue the production route and bring new things to my events that aren’t available anywhere else.”
