Mexico City.
Born in London in 1975, Paul began his music career around 1995 dj'ing on a pirate radio station called Flex FM, and in 1996 played his first club at the Ministry Of Sound in London. The same year he started working for Jackpot Records and 7pm Management, managing DJ bookings for DJ's Sasha, John Digweed and Danny Howells along with some A&R for the label. He then became a resident DJ with Danny Howells at Jackpot's weekly night at Subterania in 1997-1999, and then played his first international tour with Danny.
Paul released his first record in 1998 on Whoop records under the name “Absurd” with Rob Green, and in the summer of 1999, he went to Ibiza to manage ‘Renaissance’ at Pacha. On his return from the White Isle, he began working closely with Ministry of Sound in DJ Management, and was a resident for the international tours.
After getting a taste for producing, Paul knew his heart was in making music. Shortly after he hooked up with an old college friend Mark Obrien, and sharing the same hunger for music, so they decided to get together and set up a little studio in London.
In 2001 they both started Sumsonic Records, and between them, produced and wrote everything in house. Paul's productions reached over 60 compilations worldwide in around 4 years, including a number of licenses for Global Underground , Renaissance, Perfecto and even Café Del Mar. In between studio sessions came some very special gigs, including support DJ for The Pet Shop Boys in Lisbon, half a million people at the Love Parade Budapest to a secret and private gig for Apple computers off the West Coast of Africa.
In 2005 Paul worked with dj Sasha again developing Ableton Live with his custom made Maven midi controller. His other work with Sasha has varied from programming some of his Radio one Essential Mix from Maida Vale Studios London in 1995, some engineering for his Fundacion NYC Album (Global Underground) and writing together for some alternative productions. Paul & Sasha’s "Black Powder" was licensed to EA Sports Fifa Street and "Beyond The Rave" movie on myspace.
2007 to date, Paul has been based in the studio most days with Pete Tong. The duo have recently remixed some of the worlds most iconic bands & artists including U2, The Verve & Underworld and are currently working on an EP together set for release in the new year.
The biggest project they’ve just finished is their first feature film, "Harry Brown" staring Sir Michael Caine, directed by Daniel Barber. Michael plays an old ex war veteran who lives on a run down council estate. Over run by gangs and drug dealers, his home becomes a no go area. After his best friend is murdered, he decides to take life into his own hands and clean the place up to get his home back.
Paul & Pete wrote all the dark & edgy parts of the movie, injecting some British grit & Electronica how they know best and are already looking into another movie project.
