Dan Posen was born in Montreal Canada but was soon brought to Stittsville Ontario where he remained for 15 years until his return to Montreal where he completed a BMus degree at McGill Uviversity. Dan studied classical trumpet with some of the best. After Montreal Dan made the exodus in search of good food, fine wine (no problem with beer) and fabulous women. Now married to Laia Porta, 20 bottles of wine in the closet (beer in the fridge) and a box of Macaroni and cheese in the mail from home, I guess you could say things are pretty smokin'!
Dan works as a classical trumpet player with the Orchestra of the Grand Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona (he calls it "The Opera").
And is a long time member of Big Band Jazz Terrassa where he has been holding down the fourth trumpet book with his feet firmly set on the floor.
Band leader of the hard groovin' organ band "The Grinders" Dan is currently awaiting the imminent return of groovemaster organ blaster Phil Wilkinson to get things back in the groove!
You can currently find Dan doing some grinding with "Los Fulanos" the happenin' Latin Soul band born in the heart of Barcelona. Los Fulanos are exactly that, nine fulanos and a sound man(Sam or Alex God bless you both!). Bringing together the hot sound of Latin (not Derek and the Domines) and the oh so cool sound of Soul (with a capital S) with a little bit of funk thrown in for good measure, Los Fulanos will soulify your hot tamales baby!
Some hard swingin' sweetness can be heard coming from the Fu Manchu Jazz servants where Dan is a new fixture in the trumpet section.
Bukowski for trumpet and actor is on the market with two concerts down and hopefuly many more to come
Some exciting projects in the works are Brass Soul and Organ Gang featuring his wife, the lovely Laia Porta on vocals. Hockey is a big part of Dan's scene. He plays center for FC Barça old timers and is a forward for Roller Roller in-line hockey team in the Catalan league. Dan is an avid Senators fan and loves them even when they didn't win the Stanley cup. (Thank God that's over now!!!)
