About me:
Music is my sanctuary from the everyday grind of school and random odd jobs (read: internships for $5.00/hr). I DJ a lot of weddings, house parties and I'm trying to break into the corporate event thing. Low maintenance, great pay and did I mention the pay??? :) While I love music, and really have a ton of fun making mix CD’s and spinning parties I’m a little disillusioned with music today because there are soooo many wack artists out right now. Real, quality music is getting pushed to the background for disposable pop acts who can’t sing, or rhyme but they are real cute and can dance (Ciarra comes to mind, but there are too many names to insert). Neo-soul, house, and REAL Hip-Hop, are seldom heard on the radio or shown on video shows. As a result these artists are being marginalized and under promoted. With that in mind, I try to create mix CD’s that promote both the commercial and the underground artists in Neo-Soul and Hip-Hop music. Not that I hate Clue or Envy or any other really loud (Read: Talks all over every track with random shot outs to the delivery guy who brings them Rib-tips) DJ’s but I try to keep the self promotion to a minimum. In addition, I think an artfully crafted mix CD has a longer shelf life than simply blending the joints together, so I always try to add some humor and flavor to each creation.
