DJ RECONN, born of Dominican and American parents in December of 1980 and raised in Miami, New York, and Ft. Lauderdale. From birth DJ RECONN was immersed with latin and hip hop music, growing up amongst diversity has allowed him to understand people from all types of cultures.At the age of 15 he saved his money to purchase his first set of turntables, which started him on the path to the life of a DJ.
The first job as a DJ was when Reconn was 16. He began his career as a part-time on-air DJ while working at an underground station in Ft. Lauderdale (107.1 RYTHYM FM).
Over the next 2 years he sharpened his skills and had the opportunity to learn and watch some of the best hip hop and reggae DJ's in South Florida. At 18 he moved to Orlando to attend The University of Central Florida in 1999, where he began to focus on making a career in the music business.While attending college he founded the first ever hip hop oriented student organization on UCF campus (The Elements). In his early years as a college student DJ RECONN became a sought after street promoter for many clubs around Orlando as well as major record labels (DEF JAM, RAWKUS).
As his reputation grew around campus, he was requested at many house parties, fraternity, and sorority events. From creating a name for himself through record labels, promoting events, and street connections he was able to catch the eye of an employee from 102 Jamz (WJHM-Orlando).
He subsequently started working for the radio station in 2000, while working for 102 JAMZ he was a promotions assistant and a part time on-air mixer. Also in 2000 DJ RECONN co-founded Official Entertainment a company that handles many diffrent facets of urban entertainment.
DJ RECONN, has traveled all over the place as a DJ in such places as the entire state of Florida, Georgia, New York, Nevada, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. In 2003, DJ RECONN, re-located back to Ft. Lauderdale where he continued to work as a club and radio DJ. He spent 6 months with Slip-N-Slide records as the assistant to the promotions coordinator for the label. Also, In late 2003, he worked for a 6 month period in professional radio with 91.1 JAMS (WJFP / WJCB) (Ft. Pierce, FL.) as an on-air mixer and personality.He also worked as a professional DJ in the South Florida area with 93.5 FM (Real Deal Radio) In 2005, DJ RECONN, began to start working at yet another radio station this time in the Miami area (94.5 FM RIDDIMS). In 2006 DJ RECONN returned to Orlando and began working back at 102 JAMZ as an on-air mixer and promotions assistant.
DJ RECONN has many projects which he is currently working on such as event promotions, producing, and managing artists.
DJ RECONN is now a full fledged member of the 102 JAMZ "DREAM TEAM" and can be heard all through out Central Florida and the entire world, on 101.9 fm or 102jamzorlando.com (Friday 12-3a) (Saturday 2-3a). Also, has been promoting (Official / Island Saturdays) at Club Zion since Sept. 2006 every Saturday nite in Orlando (myspace.com/islandsaturdays).Island Saturdays then found a new home @ Club Lime Lite in downtown Orlando. Island Saturdays has become Orlando's #1 island paty on a Saturday nite !!!
DJ RECONN is now in the process of launching Official Music Group which will be focusing on DJ album releases, writers, and producers.
