I was recently interviewed by "Tunes & Trends" an entertainment magazine out of Dayton, Ohio this month. I would like to thank the staff of “Tunes & Trends” for a great interview. If you would like to read the article, just click on the magazine page below. If you would like a copy sent to you just email me at: djrickyd2@gmail.com I will be happy to send you one.
My life has always been in and around the entertainment business in so many fields.
I have played drums for a number of bands in the area and on the road. I have played all styles music. I have also worked in radio for WMUM radio at Miami University. Working as a DJ was one of my duties at the station, but I also was the purchasing director as well. And I had the pleasure of working for a number of cruise lines doing DJ, stage and sound work.
In addition I was also an Entertainment director for a couple of the cruise lines that i worked for. I was booking and scheduling entertainment on board these ships as well.
Right now I am very happy to DJ weddings and other events such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Graduation Parties, Class Reunions, Pool Parties, Car Shows and I also schedul a few Night Club gigs as well. I don't just play music I entertain! Anyone can stand up play music all night and such. But it takes a real DJ to entertain the audience. If the audience likes trivia or Dance Floor Games, I can schedule these for the adults and also the children at some events or night clubs. Dancing to the music on stage, talking too and having fun with your audience is very important as well as taking requests. I have been booked back for other events that someone heard of me or seen one of my acts prier? You will fine that I am an easy person to work & communicate with. I want who books my act to feel comfortable with everything that I do to entertain either it be a child or an adult a Birthday Party, Wedding, Night Club or a Car Show. Or a welcome home party for a service man or woman that has fought for this great country of ours. I will always put my all into every show that I do. You will see that I really enjoy my work and making every event that I am booked at a wonderful and memorable one for everyone.

Before adding DJ capabilities to his portfolio, Ricky D played drums in a variety of bands that played, Rock, Classic Rock, Blues, Classic and New Country. He has also been on the road with a number of classic rock bands such as The Box Tops, The Drifters and The Platters. Also, he has worked with country legends like David Frizzell, Dottie West and Hank Thompson just to name a few. At one time Ricky D worked as an entertainment director for 3 cruise lines. One of his duties was to DJ the 50’s & 60's sock hop on Saturday evenings. He has taken advantage of a diverse performing background as a musician and applying those skills to disc jockey work. Very few disc jockeys are also accomplished musicians--this has added a level of musical understanding and sensitivity that the average disc jockey has difficulty appreciating.
Ricky D has built up an extensive collection of music and can satisfy nearly any crowd for your event or night club business. e.g., R&B, Classic Rock & Country, New Country, Motown, Big Band, Blues, Line Dances, Disco, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Ballroom, Dance, 1950s sock hop, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s Oldies, Pop/Top 40 and Southern Rock. He does have a selection of Rap & Hip Hop but will play only by request or permission. He can play for all ages from junior high school to any year high school class reunions young & old. Also he has tunes going back to the 1940s. You can tell that DJ Ricky D enjoys music from just about any style or era, and his love of the music shows when he DJ’s. Business announcements or events, dinner or drink specials he would be more than happy to announce. Also he can truly blend with any crowd. He has the personality and the depth in music titles to do it. Everyone has fun! You will love the energy!

NAILS IN THE FENCE: Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence. (Most importantly the last sentence) There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails Into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all The nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Remember that friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us." It's National Friendship Week. Show your friends how much you care. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND, even if it means sending it back to the person who sent it to you! If it comes back to you, you will then know you have a circle of friends. YOU ARE MY FRIEND AND I AM HONORED! Now send this to every friend you have!! And to your family (they need to know that you love them too
