About me:
DJ Samrai has achieved more then any other professional DJ in Australia. In the year 2000, a young DJ Samrai took out the first place award in the NSW DMC/NSW ITF Championships and second place in the National competition.
The following year Samrai returned to take out first place at the National DMC Finals, crowning him the coveted Australian DMC Champion. Later that year he competed at the DMC World finals in London and gained an amazing Top 14 World ranking, making him the youngest DJ to ever represent Australia at just 20 years old.
In 2005, Samrai entered the Australian ITF (International Turntablist Federation) which is one of the biggest DJ Battle competitions to date. After coming up against some very talented competitors from around Australia, Samrai once again amazed judges, competitors and the crowd and was crowned 2005 ITF Australian Scratch Champion.
In the same night Samrai also furthered his title listing by adding the 2005 Australian East Coast Champion and was also awarded second place in the ITF Experimental category. Samrai was the first Turntablist/Club DJ to be signed onto a major record label (Universal Records) The Blazin' series has gone on to sell over 150,000 units.
Blazin is also the first legal hip-hop mixtape available in Australia and has filled the gap in the market for good quality credible urban music compilations, making it the most successful urban release for Universal Records to date.
DJ Samrai was also signed to Channel V to become the first official DE'Tour Bus National Tour DJ & Aussie Friggin Hip Hop Competition show DJ.
In 2004, DJ Samrai was invited to be the Auto Salon National Tour DJ, and performed his fast pasted trick sets to thousands of car loving fans all across Australia & New Zealand.
Samrai was also sponsored by Jim Beam, one of the largest and most prestigious alcholic companies in the world. Samrai is the only DJ and turntabilist signed to the label and has spent the last few months touring with them.
Samrai holds residences at numerous clubs Australia wide. As a club DJ he has supported and toured with heavyweight hip hop acts such as The Black Eyed Peas, Ozomatli, Method Man, DJ Kool, Rahzel, DJ Premier, Nivea, Redman, Scribe, Taskforce, The Beatnuts, Gangstarr, Ninja Tune, DJ Cash Money, Shortkut, JS-1, Lil Jazz and has toured with DJ Craze, A-Trak and The Allies.
Samrai has also performed at many festivals over the past few years including Livid Festival, Urban Festival, Motorola Snowboard World Cup, Quicksilver Pro and the Globe World Cup. He has even performed for the Prime Minister of Papa New Guinea!
Samrai has also won several state and national titles, and for the past three years, has been nominated as the Best Turntablist at the Australian Dance Music Awards, an amazing achievement for any DJ.
Samrai is a member of the internationally recognized Chiefrockers crew which consist of some of the top DJs in the world: DJ Pogo and Shortee Blitz (UK), Naiki (Japan), Boogie Blind (US)& Nino Brown (Australia).
Samrai was recently signed to NOVA, with his own radio show On one of the largest national radio stations in Australia. THE TAKEOVER Radio show was Developed to be a weekly on air mixtape, the Takeover is a rapid fire delivery of the newest and freshest Hip-hop and RnB. Dj Samrai is considered to not only be the Best Dj in Australia,but is now one of the most talented djs in the world.
With a mass world wide following,his showcase sets have Amazed crowds at major clubs in Australia,Uk,Papa New Guni,New Zealand,USA and Thailand.It is only a mattter of time,and the whole world will be introduced to one of the Greatest.
