RAPPER BIG POOH-LIL BROTHER & PRODUCER YOUNG RJ COLLAB
By Tai Saint Louis
Rapper Big Pooh of North Carolina duo Little Brother, has paired up with Grammy-nominated producer Young RJ to create a new studio album due out in June of 2008, the producer’s manager DJ SCRAP DIRTY told AllHipHop.com.
The two artists, from vastly different musical backgrounds, are working to combine their passion for Hip-Hop and all things musical, to create an album that will change the current landscape of music.
Young RJ will take the lead on the project’s direction, Pooh says, while he is focused on the project’s lyricism.
"You can find a lot of beat makers, but they don’t actually know how to make a song out of the beat," Big Pooh told AllHipHop.com. "That’s what separates RJ from a lot of beat makers out there."
"We’re going to make good music," added Young RJ. "Instead of just trying to go in and focusing on a single, we’re just trying to make good music."
The son of 80’s Funk/Soul artist and Barak Records founder R.J. Rice, Young RJ’s past production credits include Slum Village’s last three studio albums, Trinity, Detroit Deli, and Slum Village.
Young RJ also boast production credit on Lloyd Bank’s last album Rotten Apple and is responsible for Young Buck’s current single, "Push ‘Em Back."
The producer is also nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the song "That’s The Way of The World," singer Dwele’s contribution to the compilation album Interpretations: Celebrating The Music of Earth, Wind & Fire.
"This album has a lot of heart and soul and will change the way cats pick and choose what they really want to hear," SCRAP DIRTY said.

Dj Scrap Dirty is the General Manager of Detroit Supa Group" SLUM VILLAGE "Record Label BARAK RECORDS & FOUNDER OF Violator Managements Violator All star Djs.
Violator mogul Chris Lighty has launched a Dj coalition aimed at unifying radio DJ’s across the country.
The Violator All-Star DJ’s, named after Lighty’s company, aims to create a union of DJ’s that he and co-founder DJ Scrap Dirty say is currently fragmented.
"I started carrying crates for Red Alert," Lighty told AllHipHop.com. "We wanted to build a situation for the DJ’s who might need more muscle. It’s an honor to give back to the DJ’s, create an outlet for everyone and show how important these guys are."
DJ Scrap Dirty, who also founded the DJ coalition The Tech.Nitions, said that the mixshow DJ community was suffering from infighting, something Violator All-Star DJ’s hope to end.
"This click and that click are bickering and me and Chris want to bring everyone back together," said ScrapDirty .
"It’s tough. You have 35-year-old men barely making money and have no health insurance. We want to change that. This is like a management company for DJ’s."
Lighty said the DJ’s will benefit from the strength of Violator, the company he helms that represents such acts as 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes and Mobb Deep.
"It don’t matter if you are down with someone,"Lighty said. "We aren’t saying you gotta drop them and be with us. We just want to bring the community back together."

In related news, Dip Set member Jim Jones landed a job as A&R at Warner Music, where he will spot new talent for the label.
Jones also recently teamed with The Violator All-Star DJ--s, founded by Violator mogul Chris Lighty and DJ Scrap Dirty, to market and promote his latest Dip Set ventures.
--Scrap Dirty and I have been politicking back and forth on what the next moves we are going to make on the streets,-- Jones said. --The Violator All Star DJ Coalition has a strong presence in the radio and urban market place nationwide. All the artists whose music they embraced has spread like the plague and with me being deep rooted in the streets; this will be a very beneficial partnership and avenue for me and my music, and product.--
Scrap Dirty said the relationship would help strengthen the Diplomat brand.
--This can only help Jim Jones and take him to the next level, reaching people in the clubs, on the streets, and reaching the masses," Scrap Dirty said.
Jim Jones-- new album Harlem - Diary of Summer hits stores this summer on Koch.
