I started on Bay Area radio in 1988. My current program, "Off The Beaten Path," is an eclectic mix of many forms of electronic music, and airs on Monday nights from 10 pm to midnight pacific on KPFA in Berkeley (94.1 FM or www.kpfa.org). Dub Mission is my Sunday night party, running for more than 12 years at the Elbo Room in San Francisco (www.dubmissionsf.com). Dub Mission presents cutting-edge dub and progressive reggae music and has featured artists from all over the world, including Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, Twilight Circus Dub Sound System, and The Scientist to name only a few. In 2003, journalist/dj Ron Nachmann and I compiled "Babylon Is Ours: The USA in Dub," (www.dubmissionsf.com/theusaindub.html) a compilation of exclusive American dub tracks that was released by Select Cuts Records. I spin eclectic sets of world/electronic, dub/reggae/dancehall, dance to downtempo music, and have had the pleassure of opening for a wide array of artists including The Wailers, Les Nubians, Rachid Taha, AfroCelt Sound System, Transglobal Underground, Angelique Kidjo, The Cinematic Orchestra, Culture, Big Youth, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Nortec Collective, Ex-Centric Sound System, Issa Bagayogo, Habib Koite, Badmarsh & Shri, Cheb i Sabbah, Mc Sultan & others. Good to get your annual 'Best of...' list - always an interesting source of reference for flavours on the opposite side of the Atlantic - much in common, but also much that I've not heard. Long may you continue!
