The recent years have certainly seen Uruguayan DJ Southmen (Carlos Antelo) make his Mark on the Global Scene. Started early 1997 mixing at private parties while still in school he was invited to play at well known club ‘Space’ in Punta Del Este , since then he has been involved in activities and events related to electronic music, even promoting some of the most important events over South America. Originally from Spain but bassed now in São Paulo(Brazil) SOUTHMEN is one of the extremly talented batch of Producers/DJs hailing from the South American Scene at the moment. It was his completes dedication to house music what it has taken Carlos to where is nowadays, with a tight Schedule that takes him around the globe.

-THE DJ-

Carlos had the opportunity to play at many clubs and events worldwide alongside the most important DJs. Their Record entailment with the most outstanding labels and producers and his unique style have turned him into a special DJ within House & Progressive House Music. Former resident at ‘Space’ club in Punta Del Este, he also have run the most important after hours in Punta at ‘Café Del Mar’, but not happy with staying in his home country he has travelled far and wide to play: Argentina, Brazil, Bolívia, Peru, Chile, México, Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Middle East, USA and ofcourse UK where he has lived for a while. In UK he reach a residency at legendary ‘Dry Bar’ in Manchester, he also was guest DJ at UK venues such as ‘The Arches’ in Scotland, ‘The Music Box’ and ‘Living Room’ when he played often for cellebrities party's After this succes in UK he was one of the residents at Amercia well known club ‘Twilo’ on their South American tour, also co-produce events for top DJs in Punta Del Este(Tiesto,Anthony Pappa, Behrouz, Deep Dish).

-THE PRODUCER-

In 2002 Southmen had some productions alongside Uruguayan partner(R.Cieri) signed to Premier Sounds by Prime Distribution UK, this track called ‘IMAN’ was remixed by one of the upcoming British talent’s Shafunkers courtesy of John Digweed’s Bedrock Label. ‘FUNKY FEELING’ was the other track signed to Distraekt Recordings with remixes by ‘We Love Sundays’ Producer’s Paul Wooldford and Pilliavin & Zimbardo, both records had great reaction within the crowd and DJs. In 2003 had signed to AZULI Records a British major label and his track has been included in ‘SPACE Ibiza’ compilation mixed by the great DJ Smokin Jo. As if Southmen can’t put a foot wrong this year has joined the ranks of the elite in MUZIK Magazine’s chart roster alongside Djs such as Steve Lawler, Satoshi Tomiie, Carl Cox, Ralph Lawson and Hernan Cattaneo to name a few. But it was in 2006 when Southmen has obtains his definitive recognition when had signed original productions with the major US label Yoshitoshi Recordings owned by legendary duo DEEP DISH. Co-produced by L909 & JZK this track called Southdrummers ‘Cruz Del Sur’ was the main attraction during 2006 at WMC in Miami, receving hughe support by Danny Tenaglia and the rest of the top Djs in America.
Wich brings back to the present Southmen has been reached to remix the first single of the duch Top DJ MISS NINE called ‘Nevertheless’ when he have worked alongside top producers 16Bit Lolitas A.Sarate and Eelke Kleijn.
In 2009 Southmen has been working on some forthcoming releases, including his remix for Space Ibiza resident..s Elio Riso, the track called ''You and Me'' had such a big reaction and expectation within house Djs, and is called as one of Ibiza anthem's for 2009. His Re-Edit of well known British producer Rasmus Faber had reach the attention of Farplane Recordings UK, and its going to be released late August 2009, along his remix for Stereo Production artist's Moth of his classic tune ''Foxy''. Also this year Southmen is going to be realeasing his first compilation album worldwide, called ''A Fine Balance'' which include artist such as: Dirty Vegas, Sultan, Ned Shepard, Miss Nine, Elio Riso, Robbie Taylor, Tommyboy, Tarkan and Southmen him self to name a few. Nowadays Southmen still working on original productions edits and remixes for the most outstanding labels and producers with hughe success around the world.

-THE EXPERIENCE-

In 2007 Southmen was one of the international DJs alongside Tiesto to perform at Brazil’s festival ‘Planeta Atlântida’ for 60.000 people, also in 2007/08 Southmen joined the Spanish tour of DEEP DISH, performing at every Deep Dish presentation, including the ‘Freedom Festival’ where he played for 7.000 people alongside legendary PET SHOP BOYS (this was the last tour have made by Deep Dish as Duo outside America).
In 2008 Southmen has been elected by Brazil top magazine’s ‘Cool Magazine’ as Best DJ of the year, joining the award show with most important cellebrities and media from Brazil. Just to round the things off during these years Southmen has been performed side by side with the most representatives DJs worldwide: Anthony Pappa, ATFC, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell, Behrouz, Chus & Ceballos, Copyright, Darren Emerson, Dean Coleman, Demi, DFormation, Eric Morillo, François K, George Morel, Hernan Cattaneo, Hector Romero, Hardsoul, Lee Cabrera, Lexicon Avenue, Low End Speciallist, Matthias Heillbron, Martin Solveig, Nick Warren, Paul Harris, Roger Sancez, Silicone Soul, Tiesto and many others. Southmen latest appearances include gigs such as: Warung(top5 DJ Mag), We Love Sundays(South America Edition), Cameo(Miami), Pacha(Ibiza, Offir, Buenos Aires, Marrakesh, São Paulo), Mokai(Miami), Shochos(Dubai UAE), Catwalk(Barcelona), Space(Madrid), La Noor(Punta Del Este), to name a few.
