    Special Blend is more than just a DJ. Originally from Springfield, MA, DJSB went to Boston, MA in 2001 to pursue an education in music technology at Northeastern University. During that time, he spent his hours learning music theory, composition, and the in's and out's of the music industry. Between all those hours of going to class, DJSB was constantly practicing his DJ skills and playing at local hip-hop events and parties. Since 2001, DJSB has played most major venues in Boston such as, The Paradise Lounge, Harper's Ferry, Club Avalon, Bill's Bar, and also the Middle East in Cambridge. He's opened up for such act and performers like, Lupe Fiasco, KRS-One, The New Deal, Maceo Parker, Kool G Rap, Immortal Technique, Kool Keith, DJ Craze, Blackalicious, Murs of Living Legends, Akil of Jurassic 5, Devin the Dude, Medusa, and many more. DJSB is currently DJing spot dates in his new home of Los Angeles, CA and elsewhere across the US. This past year he attended South by Southwest Music Conference 2010 in Austin, TX. He is also the DJ in the group Audible Mainframe which is a 6-piece live hip hop band. They have performed as Slick Rick's backing band and have played with other recording artists such as Damian Marley, Smif N' Wessun, K-Os, Wale, LMFAO, Common, Blackalicious, Biz Markie, Tone Loc, Arrested Development, and many more. The focus of DJSB's talent is more on making music than playing music. DJSB is a beatmaker and producer. Being a DJ to him, means manipulating sounds via turntable and having whatever sound comes out be musical and yet still in the context of hip-hop. This includes scratching, beat juggling, production, live drum sequencing, and mixing any genre of music that sounds pleasing to his ear. His background in music technology, action sports, hip hop culture, and overall good taste allows him to create that unique Special Blend sound, which is a hybrid of life experiences and flavors, with strong overtones of raw hip-hop. Notice has been taken of his talents by artists and promoters and thus he's performed as a band member as well as a solo DJ. Artists in the hip-hop realm also notice his talents and request him to be their backing DJ when they take the stage. Such artists are J The S, Project Move, Slaine of La Coka Nostra, and Moe Pope of Project Move (Megaphone). DJSB is also a DMC DJ Battle competitor, Winter Music Conference DMC battle competitor in Miami, FL, and a Guitar Center Spin-Off Regional Winner. As great as DJSB is as a DJ and musician, his personal style and asthetic flavor are just as nice, which make him easy on the eyes. "Music is the universal language. I speak it fluently. Let's talk."
