Hi there, I'm Mike. I make music. I also play records - sometimes for people, and sometimes they dance, and that makes me happy.
I grew up an indie-rock kid and played guitar, bass and drums at different points in different bands - the longest and greatest stretch was 7 years behind the drumkit of the Shimmer Kids Underpop Association - a fine (and large!) SF psych-rock band that has only grown finer (and larger!) as The Society of Rockets.
During those years my love of music production tools and trickery led me to explore electronic music and I got involved in a number of side projects. I made beats, manipulated loops, banged on timbales and annoyed my neighbors with the The Soapbox. Then, in an undergound (literally) Mission District studio, the cacophony known as Engines of Innuendo was born. For 3 years we rewired the studio every-which-way, jammed relentlessly and made a handful of live appearances in SF at events like Under The Radar and the Guerilla Music Festival. EOI has churned out a self-released EP (EOI01) and double album (EOI02) which are now available for free online at Vocoid.com.
These days I'm half of Medl - and having a blast making our weird sounds sound pretty. I'm also showing up in random places with my record bag, dropping downtempo, hiphop, techno, tech-house, drum and bass and stuff. Hope to see you around sometime!
