"A good DJ should remember there’s a crowd out there and he or she shouldn’t get too self-indulgent…
But they should always try to educate them aswell."

Biog...
Steve Smart is one of the fastest growing names in dance music and radio, presenting the big Start to the Kiss Weekend right accross the UK on Kiss with Friday Night Kiss 7-10pm, Saturday Night Kiss, 8pm-12am, and back for some classic action with Kisstory Sunday nights 7-9pm.
Steve's reputation has led to his show being host to the cream of Dance Music's heavy hitters including Mark Knight, Chris Lake, Laidback Luke, Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela and legend’s like Paul Oakenfold, Sasha (who really doesnt do much radio at all, but supports Steve's show) and Carl Cox to name just a few.
The tunes that Steve plays are also a reflection of his ability to foresee future dancefloor hits. Past artists that Steve has exclusively aired on radio include first plays from Axwell, Laidback Luke, David Guetta, Shapeshifters, Seamus Haji and so many more which have all gone on to be big hitters. Well the list really does go on... and on. If you listen to Steve’s show be sure to hear an anthem in the making.
Steve's unique approach to DJ'ing is refreshing to say the least: "I play according to the dance floor all the time, that is my most important aim. Too many DJ's stick to one style, one formula and then when that formula doesn’t work anymore they struggle to re-invent themselves... I maintain my sound which can be melodic and big-room sounding at times but still keeping my approach embracing the sound of now"
The style of music, which Steve incorporates into his sets embraces house, and electro induced house stepping upto progressive. His knowledge of music expands further and even enables his Djing to incorporate wider genres at times. His ability to easily adapt is one of his greatest forte's.
Production is important for Steve too having produced under various pseudonyms with various people. The latest productions and remixes came about in 2007 working alongside Danny Dove whom of which have become an 'in demand' sure fire production team. 2008 saw the release of their debut single 'Need In Me' featuring Amanda Wilson (Loaded records) which notched up huge success worldwide. A string of remixes followed and the awesome follow up single 'Doesn't really matter' featuring 'DJ, vocalist and alround good girl' Abigail Bailey was out late 2008 on Ministry Of Sounds's Data Label. Other 2008 remixes for Supafly, Sharam and the comeback single from the Sugababes 'Girls' all picked up huge support.
Into 2009 which has been pretty huge for Steve taking on three residency stints at London's super-club Pacha earlier in the year, the '£3million refurbed 'iF' and Gatecrasher in Watford over the Summer not to mention his existing Smartie Partie residency at the Den (Formerly the End). Steve toured the French Alps earlier in the year for Ministry Of Sound's Housexy brand and toured the UK in September over the Freshers period reaching from Glasgow to Plymouth.
This year studio wise he has remixed the Chanel single 'If You Love Me' for Hed Kandi. A beautiful remix for M-Box's - 'When You're Gone' featuring Susie Ledge. An unstoppable remix of the Frankmusik single 'Better Off as Two' Universal Island records which was out April. He also remixed the classic Kristine W for Champion records and most recently taking on Empire Of The Sun's 'Walking On A Dream' for EMI. Danny and Steve are now taking a break from remixing as we move into 2010 and currently working on a new single themselves.
Finally 'radio wise' 2009 was the year Steve achieved record rajar figures on all three of his radio shows... smashing Radio 1, on Friday and Saturday nights (and Radio 2 for that matter).
