| General | Alternative Disk Jockey Stowy migrated south from Michigan to the Army in 86'. Knowing only the Detroit and Ann-Arbor scenes, he was introduced to N. Carolina's alternative music scene at Barry's II on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. He haunted Charlotte's Park Elevator as a patron in both locations as well as Reunion and Neo in Fayetteville.
With inspiration from Mojo in Detroit, AmyDJ from Barry's II, DJC of Club Neo and djsteve from the Fallout Shelter, he took on his first house DJ gig at the ACC Tavern on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh in 1991.
Stowy helped create many popular events such as the 1st and 2nd After the Fallout reunions at Area 51 as well as some underground, abandoned building/in the woods-type parties.
In 1998 he relocated to Asheville becoming a resident DJ at Joli Rogue with the 5th Circle and a favorite DJ of the Asheville Downtown Association as well as performing at the Green Ball and Red Ball for the Asheville Area Arts Council. In 2006 he was voted best DJ in Asheville's MountainX "Best of WNC".
In 2007 he relocated back to Raleighwood spinning tunes with Dirge Factory and the occasional house party.
Stowy recently started a new venue "Music for the Masses" - every 2nd Friday at Flex Nightclub in Raleigh - It is a fusion of 80's New Wave (early in the evening) then usually moves towards Classic Alternative and newer genres. Not hard, hard industrial, but rather expect to hear IAMX, PreSets, She Wants Revenge, and of course your favorite Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox, Smiths, Cure and more. | | Music | Industrial/Goth, DarkWave, EBM, Dirty Electro, Classic Alternative, SynthPop, FuturePop. | | Movies | Brainless ones with a bunch of special effects. Love Vampire Movies, Pulp Fiction, WWII Movies | | Television | Hate it. It sucks my soul right out. BSG75, Sopranos, Las Vegas, The Unit, Alias, Jerico (Jerico ROCKS), Lost (Lost sucks but I am addicted) Really Lovin me some Weeds... Ugly Betty, Mail Call and Future Weapons on the Military Channel... DVR is the bomb. No more commercials.... | | Books | Loved "Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson also liked "Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini recently.
