Me, myself, and I. I am the producer, engineer, musician, programmer, graphic designer, and errand boy, except when Noumenon and The Basement Junkies throw down the house sound, then the team is Dave (7UP) Sanchez and myself.
My weapons of choice are my PC with an M-Audio interface ruunning STEINBERG Cubase SX, Mac PowerBook Pro running Logic Pro-Abelton Live-and ProTools, KORG Triton Extreme, ROLAND Juno 106 & TR-909, NOVATION K-Station, Access Virus T1, Yamaha Motif rack, plug-ins out the yin-yang, and two very tried and true TECHNICS SL1200 MkII Turntables (Shaken, not stirred) and Stanton Final Scratch.

Here is a little BIO, you can visit my official website www.djstrobe.com for a more comprehensive one as well as more music.
Music has always been the soundtrack to my life even at an early age. Although I am a product of the 80s music scene (when I started producing and DJing) I am inspired by a very diverse selection of music.
I first began my DJ career spinning 80s New Wave at an under 21 club, groups like Depeche Mode, The Clash, Gary Numan, New Order, Duran Duran, Nitzer Ebb, anything fun and danceable. Not long after I got my first drum machine and synthesizer, a Yamaha RX-11 and a Casio CZ-101, paired with my Atari 1040ST as a sequencer I was set. Consequently, my first productions (the CZ-101 could play an astounding 4 mono voices or 1 four-voice sound) were like Kraftwerk in a blender, even with the ability to play drums and piano. But I was determined.
While in college, I met a fellow fan of synth-pop and keyboard player and with a singer went on to form my first band, Reverse. Believe it or not, for the time we were pretty good, kind of like a Depeche Mode/Yaz wannabe. We went on to play a bunch of shows, entered a few rock challenges (you should have seen the looks on the faces of the other bands when we showed up with 10 keyboards, a mixer, and a computer), and even had some radio play. I bump into my old bandmates from time to time, and we joke about doing a reunion tour.
From there I played keys or drums in several bands, and continued to DJ, and traveled to Chicago for the summers in the late 80's and early 90's where my family lived and was exposed to House music via clubs like Medusas and radio shows on B96. House music changed my whole perspective on music and production. And I locked myself away in the studio until my big break came
Not long after, a new club opened up in our warehouse district in Pittsburgh called Metropol, it was the talk of the town, but I was just shy of being old enough to get in. Besides being the hottest spot to go clubbing, they did things like live music and fashion shows. On one such occasion, I was fortunate enough to be the music director and got my first glimpse inside the beast and the booth, 3 turntables, yes 3, you can do a lot of damage with 3 turntables. (The man controlling the musical carnage was a Billboard DJ by the name of Kris Kersey, who in my mind still is one of the best jocks around. The man did a live mix show on the air with 3 turntables at once.)...
I brought my E-mu Emax sampler in to do the sound effects; Kris was so intrigued I got offered a job being the sample and light guy for the club, paying my dues before earning DJ rights. (Consequently, I was given my DJ/production name Strobe by the singer of Nitzer Ebb after one of the strobes stuck and stayed on for 2 songs.)
I was very fortunate becasue of my trips to Chicago to be one of the first people to bring house music to Pittsburgh along with Kris Kersey, Doug Weimer, and the help of many of the loyal househeads that came to our early house parties bringing new music after trips to New York.
During that time, Derrick May DJd at one of our nights and I heard techno for the first time and I was hooked. I immediately went home and created my first techno tracks. Kris helped me shop some of my tracks and the first one to bite was Quark Records, a New York label run by Curtis Urbina. He signed my first tracks in 1989, Euphoria was born, and off to New York and on tour I went...
When I moved to New York, I interned for Logic Records, DJd at various clubs including Limelight and Robots, worked at a few record stores, and even partnered up in a used computer/music gear store called Crocodile Music and Computers. While working at Logic I met Geoffe Colon of Fenzy Entertainment, who is one of the industries best promoters, label managers, and A & R cats.
I put some more Euphoria records out with Quark, and was Jellybean Record's in-house remixer for a while .
I must admit, I dont know how much luckier it gets to be able to do this for a living. I toured as Euphoria DJing and doing live techno shows, played gigs with Moby, Prodigy, Quadrophonia, Jeff Mills, BT, you name it.
Ive met and made friends with most of the people that inspired me to do dance music, earned 2 gold records, released a bunch of original tracks (everything from techno, latin house, to lounge), remixed records for artists like Britney Spears (yeah yeah, I know but the mix was cool), The Killers, Missy Elliot, Norah Jones, UNK, and collaborated with so many great artists and producers, and to this day still get paid to do something I love, producing/remixing music and DJing. I've released over a dozen commercially available mix CDs, and I have a weekly mix show on iPartyRadio and Apple iTunes Radio's Electronic station called "Journeys in Electro House" which is also a podcast on Apple iTunes. I help out with the Red Bull Music Academy info sessions in Pittsburgh, and strive to help those who want to learn the art of music production and DJing as much as I can. I keep releasing original productions and remixes, started a record label called Strobotic Recordings, and hold a Friday night residency at Olive or Twists and Saturday night residency.
So putter around a bit, listen to some tunes, reach out and message me, we can chat about iPods (I feel the greatest invention of the last decade), music production (check my blog), New York pizza, Kevin Federline's "PoPoZao" video, whatever floats your boat...
Why not visit my official homepage and check out the music player with even more original productions and remixes...
