Rick's first experiences in electronic music were provided by the legendary Orbit club in Morley, where he would religiously spend every possible weekend absorbing the frequencies of the world's finest techno and electro artists, and where his perceptions of electronic music were re-programmed and re-aligned. Listening to the likes of Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills and Juan Atkins inspired him to master the art of DJing, and after sending out mixes, he soon started to recieve his first bookings, going on to win a DJ competition that secured sets at events around the country. Having already studied music from a young age (including classical tuition of various instruments; piano, guitar, percussion) Rick decided to learn the art and science involved in creating electronic music, and studied at Huddersfield University where he gained a degree in Music Technology & Audio Systems. During this period he began to construct his studio, and soon after the first Systemic tracks were completed. Rick would take his productions down to Eastern Bloc records in Manchester to get the opinion of the Orbit residents, Mark Turner and John Berry, blasting them out over the shop's sound system, and who would in turn play out a select few in their DJ sets. Mark passed on a cd of tracks to another Eastern Bloc regular Martin Wareham (Jactation Records), and not long after the first Jactation record was released through Pureplastic. The record recieved support from many of the big names within the techno genre, and gradually Rick started to release on various other labels, including the respected Portuguese label Labrynth, run by Michaelangelo. Rick's tracks have since been featured in the charts and playlists of many of the worlds biggest artists, including the likes of Dave Clarke, DJ Rolando, Paul Mac, DJ 3000, Colin Dale, A.Paul, Max Durante and Boris Divider to name a few, and on some of the best electronic music Radio shows, including Dave Clarke's Whitenoise Radio, Ben Sims & Alex Downeys Split radio and Manchester's Motor Techno Radio. Rick's tracks have been remixed by the likes of Phase, Paul Mac, Paul Damage, and Sir Real, and 2009 see's the establishment of Rick's own label Duality, a platform for his own output in the techno and electro genres, alongside talented and cutting edge artists from around the world. As well as producing and DJing Rick also works in the radio broadcasting industry both as a technician and as part of a production team for BBC Radio Manchester.
