Janeiro, Tartu and Cologne. These are some of the cities which have been part of
DJ Tahira’s worldwide circuit during the last 3 years.
Known in Brazilian scene for his wide musical
culture and sophisticated repertoire, Tahira upholds eclectic and informative
Djing based on a mixture of styles such as Rare Grooves, House, Broken Beat,
Detroit, Downtempo, Abstract Hip Hop and Dub, strongly influenced by Jazz, 70s
Funk, Latin, Soul, Afro and Brazilian Music.
He is, currently, the most versatile DJ and, thanks
to a wide knowledge, the only one in Brazil to transit through parties of
different musical styles, sharing the turntables with the best of each style in
Brazil.
His international sound is modern and vintage at
the same time. No barriers. Many periods and musical styles are blended. Tahira
can build a diversified repertoire smoothly, the transitions are not felt by the
audience, and at the end of his set people have listened and danced to
everything. It’s a Djing style on the rise in Europe, but masterly done by few
DJs.
His heavy curriculum has four gigs at Brahma
International (two consecutive years in Ukraine - Brahma Open Air and in Canada
- Brahma Sessions). The closing of Rome Film Feast. Vibe Bar in Bricklane (one
of the most important nightclubs in London). Bar Guanabara (the most important
Brazilian music club in London). Parties of Vinyl Vibes label and Brazilectro
compilation's selector Callamarime Moon, and the busy underground club Nublu, in
New York. He is one of the most active Brazilian DJs abroad.
In Brazil, he has played in many events such as
Ame's Street Parade, New Year's Day Party at Copacabana Beach in 2002 (30
thousand people), Vivo Open Air, Moto Mundo Mix, Cafe De La Musique (launch
party), among others. Among clubs and parties are Clash, In The House, Lov.e,
Colors, D-Edge, Soundsystem de Rua, Sarajevo, Zoeira Hip Hop, Bar 8, Fun House,
Nike's Party (Rio de Janeiro), Fela Kuti Celebration Party, James Brown's
one-year death Party etc.
As Soundscape Designer, Tahira is one of the most
requested lounge music DJs currently. He's resident DJ of the sophisticated Skye
restaurant, at the penthouse of Unique Hotel and has taken care of sound
ambiance for places (in Brazil and abroad) such as De.Lite (Cologne, Germany),
Scheinbar (Cologne, Germany), Westpol-Gewolbe (Cologne, Germany), Mabel-Olfe
(Berlin, Germany), Smith of Smithfields (London, England), Café De La Musique,
Sofitel Hotel, Hilton Hotel, Emiliano Hotel , São Paulo’s Pinacotheca, Casa de
Portugal.
His informative side can be checked out on his
montlhy podcast EBS Podcast (www.submusica.com/ebs), where he shows new stuff
and classics of music around the world, with listeners in Portugal, Japan, USA,
Germany and Brazil. He has columns on Jazz Mais and Turntable Jazz
magazines. He's the owner of the brand-new EBS Diggin label, which was born as a
result of his licenser and
musical researcher work.
