Worked directly with: Stuart Dempster, William Duckworth, "Blue" Gene Tyranny, the Monktail Creative Music Concern, Rinde Eckert, Meredith Monk, Jay Clayton, Ohm Resistance, Wu Man, Janice Giteck, Stephen Fandrich, and many more. These in particular have influenced me strongly.
Admire and study: Carla Kihlstedt, Bjork, jazz greats from Mingus to Parker, John Cage, Mike Patton, Fiona Apple, Reggie, Kevin Chills, Mr. Scruff, Amon Tobin, Coldcut, Boards of Canada, Unit, Riz Rollins, UFO!, Jon Stewart, David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Vassily Kandinsky, Arvo Part, Kronos Quartet, Pauline Oliveros, Rachmaninoff; all completely inapparent in my work to date, unfortunately. With the exception perhaps of the last two. (that list is a work in progress, btw. Hard to compile away from my cd collection!)
Contemporaries: Degenerate Art Ensemble, SuttonBeresCuller, Reggie Watts.
No really - we all went to school together. Oh and Loren Dempster, minus the school part. But maybe not metaphorically. And Ryan Link.
Other, often stronger influences include things I've read, seen, been broadsided by, suffered, enjoyed, loved. Art, Literature, and Adversity being my favorites.
I'm often challenged as to whether I should separate my drum-and-bass-dj self from my all-other-experimental-musics self altogether - however, I think I should give the jungle headz a little more credit - I think you all can handle my other interests, some of you may even share them. And it remains a fact that the dnb community and my years shared with the bassbins have perhaps influenced me most of all. :)
Sounds Like
nothing and everything - and like a single malt scotch only partway to maturity.
I am currently working on iOrpheus, an interactive public opera that has grown out of William Duckworth's Cathedral project which I have been a part of for the last decade. I am heading up Creative Management of the social networking and viral marketing aspects in the parallel worlds. I will also be performing as a member of the Cathedral Band at the Suncorp Plaza and throughout the final event.
iOrpheus is a public opera based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and written for and with South Bank Precinct in Brisbane, Australia.
Performed on iPods, mobile phones, and laptops, along with interactive installations and live performers, iOrpheus will take place on Friday, August 31, 2007 in the streets, parks, and promenades of South Bank.
The intent of this “public opera” is to create guided moments where park visitors—using their everyday digital devices—may interact artistically with parallel worlds as they move through the events of their daily lives.
I will be in Brisbane beginning August 24th and through the concert on August 31st, if you are interested in talking more about the project or meeting up there, do please get in touch! Go to www.iorpheus.com to find out how you can participate before and during the final concert, no matter what continent you're on.

I have long postponed creating a MySpace Music profile because of the crazy variation in projects I've been involved in. Honestly, I don't know where to start in pigeonholing myself. I also have many years worth of music and video that needs to be encoded, and haven't the tools or the patience. So I'll start with my most popular electronic composition, and as I dip back into making such things, and/of have my written compositions performed and recorded, I'll add them here for you.
I've had a personal space at http://www.myspace.com/djtamara for years, and for now there is much more information about me there. But I am finding it hard to keep track of my globe-scattered friends in the morass of bands and clubs and acquaintances asking for adds, and I don't mean to disparage anyone, but would like to try to keep the personal and professional separate. ALSO, of course, I would like to share my sounds.
Know that my tastes and projects vary widely. There is little I cannot do - but there is much I am impatient with. I am working on this. Loves include:
DJing D&B, downtempo, and hip hop (prefer the indie, the retro, and the knowledge kinds)
Jazz and orchestral music - writing both, singing the former, remixing the latter
Improvisation - beyond boundaries, beyond reason The Cathedral Band - a genre in itself
More about all of my projects soon. Meanwhile, follow links around, listen lots, and have a wonderful day.
Hey, hope all is well! Come by the page and check out my newest tunes "Midnight Rush" and "Gamer's Delight" recently added to the player when you get a chance.
"Midnight Rush" has a more Brookes Brothers/Futurebound vibe while "Gamer's Delight" is just full-blown analog bliss. Leave some love if you like what you hear, it's always appreciated. Big up!
Please add my new music profile:

*I will be deleting this profile eventually!!*
Check out the new forthcoming music and press release

thanks for adding me. look forward to hearing more of your work. No need to divide up the different genres. Many people doing experimental music have traditional or other approaches they use in their work as well
