Old school hip hop thru to New school with just about everything inbetween except thugged out RnB pop rap...............of course!!!! Turntable dexterity of any kind, the more musical the better. Jazz, love it...........well most of it anyway. Dirty raw funk and sweet soul music.
Some of the people who influenced me when i started out are Shelley D, Dj Macca, Mex and Krafty. Feels like just the other day!!!!!
I started Djing sometime round 89-90, can't really remember when as it all seems a bit hazy right now!!!! I had some good people round me who shared their knowledge with me and i was soon on a vinyl mission which is still running its course to this day, with a vengeance i might add!!! My friends and I started putting on house parties at just about anyones house that would have us!!!!! We soon had quite a reputation for a good party. Props to Jed, Shelley, Ant, Dazza P, PJ, Snakey, Mong, Tony Tone, Mitch, Funky Dunc, Frank, Mex, Macca, Krafty and almost forgot Greg Pils!!!!!! Also Sally, Den, Giselle and "Steady" A.K.A 2hands and Tom Guest.
In 92 I travelled to Asia and managed to get a couple of residencies in HK and then in Japan. On my return to the UK in 95 i moved to Brighton with all my old partying friends and was lucky enough to be involved with the Knowledge of Self Nights. After playing for nearly 6 years with KoS and some heavyweights of both the US and the UK Hip Hop scenes I returned to Asia.
After a 3 year spell in Bangkok where I had a great scratch partner in DJ Extract (sometimes a great 5-6 hours, sometimes a shite 20 mins!!!!) and where we met Gee Wiz (canadian styles!!!) I again returned home. Since returning home in 04 I have been doing stuff with Extract and the Ill Technicians crew aswell as a more laid back KoS(every 3 months!!) Got myself an mpc and as you can hear have started to dabble with it!!!
Big up to OMC for co producing the Hip Hop rmx you might be able to hear. Also Big up to the little ginger shit that is Foly, you got the sickest cuts..............and the gingerist bollox!!!!! (not that ive seen them!!!!) word up!!!! Extract got the dopest production skills and all the complicated cuts. Where did you get them all???? Finally to Southpaw, a great friend, confidant, drinking buddy and dude who keeps me laughing. You are a good and true friend and like me, a total slut bitch!!!
