Heroes
Everyone who stands up for his or her beliefs even if the whole world is against them.
Me? Just a girl who never ever wants to grow up.. Forever stuck somewhere in the eternal bliss of wondering about the world around her. So much to see, so much to do, so much to experience. Third star to the right and straight on to morning really is the best course to follow...
Everything is a way for expression: sounds and visions combine to create mindscapes, and sometimes a select few mindscapes escape in a form others can see or even hear.

DJ [vsbl]
A long time ago I used to dj a bit in the new-wave scene, but that is long since forgotten. Still old skills and habits have a tendancy to resurface after a while. So when some time ago two other former dj's and I voiced our opinion about some of the lack of skills of some of the current scene dj's there quickly came the moment I too had to put my money where my mouth was. That's when one of those most obnoxious bugs bit me again: hooked again on music. Oh well, I guess there are worse things to be hooked on.
Somewhere around that time I got a firm introduction to goa and psy trance; both as a genre and as a scene. Again I got stung by a bug and my taste shifted slightly away from my original 'home' genres of cybergothic, EBM and industrial to incorporate those trancy neo-hippie sounds.
[vsbl] is the nick I use as a mixer & dj. I spin stuff from the cybergoth, industrial, psy-trance and the like genres. Basically music should be a way for people to loose themselves. If even just for a short while forget about all their daily ordinary lives and just be, maybe even catch a glimps of the energies binding everyone together; P.L.U.R.
I'm co-organiser and resident DJ at the monthly IntonaRumori party in Amsterdam's oldest goth/industrial club: Korsakoff as well as a regular guest DJ there on other nights. Other parties I currently am involved in as organiser and DJ are "Twilight of Conscience" at Ruigoord and "Ghost Ship" on board of the MV Stubnitz.
Together with my friends PD GVD and Distorted Chaos I am one of the co-conspirators for a new monthly party to be held at the Korsakoff in Amsterdam. Every second friday of the month we'll be hosting IntonaRumori.
In the early 20th century the word “IntonaRumori” was conceived as the name for a class of mechanical intruments to incorporated the noises found in the industrialised urban landscape in music. This idea which was in that time no more than a rather controversial thought existing primarily in the minds of futurists, nowadays has become the mainstay of modern music. Can anyone imagine dark industrial or noise without the use of a present day form of these instruments?
In the early 21th century “IntonaRumori” has become the name of a new monthly party too. We will be bringing you a refreshing mix of old and new dark dance music. The focus is on darkelectro / industrial / wave / ebm / noise and alternative, but expect excursions to other genres for added flavour.

[Invisible Imagery Photography]
Like I said in the beginning of this introduction: mindscapes find their way out both as sounds and as vision, so yes at times I do make pictures too.
When I picked up my camera some years ago suddenly the world got a twist and a personal style started to emerge. A style that shuns most of what I call "barby-style, all the world is nice and pleasant"-photography. The world simply isn't always nice and pleasant. More often than not it is filled with undercurrents of a twisted nature. So a recurring theme in my work is trying to give the world a slight surreal twist. Urging the viewer to see an ordinary scene in a different light, a change of perspective if you will. More often than not this twist will indeed be towards the darker end of the spectrum. While there are a certainly some gothic influences to be found in my portfolio, I personally rather refer to it as dark-photography which is a much broader term.
Having said that I still think the definition given by J. Sheridan in “In a Glass Darkly” is perfectly fitting for the use of goth elements in the arts: “Gothic is a philosophical perspective "a view of the world". It is the cosmos in negative, inverted - the strange and eerie are commonplace, while the everyday is somehow uncanny. Here, the dark and threatening have an irresistible allure, while normality and comfort promise only “ennui” and decay. The opposite poles of sex and death are married together in exquisite grotesquerie. Innocence and virtue are treasured only as virgin parchment, upon which the sigils of sin can be written in broad strokes of blood red and midnight black.”
Of late influences are shifting even further and much more into the realm of psychedelic styles. Probably due to me being more and more exposed to psychedelic trance and related genres of music. For maybe, just maybe, when viewed in a certain special way the world might very well be a very happy place to be!
Ofcourse having along your camera just about always results in a process of documenting much of what's going on in the dutch darker scenes as the house photographer for Cybercase (Cyberia / X-Club / Cybergothic Syndrome / Summer Darkness), BADparties (Storm / Area51) and a regular photographer for Medusa, Distorded Boy and some other organisers.
Who I'd like to meet:
Open-minded people who share my passions for all things creative. Ow and it helps to be a party animal :P
And naturally I'm always on the look out for gigs. So if any party organizer reads this and likes my style, just drop me line!
If you have no *real* profile yourself just don't bother to sent me a friend request. You are just wasting my time, for you will be refused!
