William Highsmith....aka DJ WiLL GaTeS been involve and showed a love for HiPHoP since birth. "It started at a young age...i grew up on video music box, watching videos with my mom. I wanted to rap and DJ whatever i saw in the videos i mimicked. I use to take my grandmother vinyl records and put them on top of the coffee table and act like im mixing, i was only like 3 or 4 years old maybe 2" His dad(who also DJ in his younger days) one day made him a play DJ set out of an old sneaker box and to round pieces of cardboard on top, he was destine to DJ. That "DJ set" upgraded to a real one when he turn 8 years old, in which his real DJ foundation started. " I started with two gemini belt drive turntables lol and a gemini mixer and a gemini amp i think....pops took me to beat street...bought like 300 dollars worth of records....all doubles and i went home and got it in. He told me how to play the record go from song to song, how to use the crossfader how to backspin the record and the rest i did on my own...i sware that was like one of the greatest things my father ever did for me and i give him credit for" Growing up he played his music out the window for his friends which eventually change to block parties and school events that took place in his neighborhood. "One day this dude DJ'd at my block party and he had Technics 1200's and i was like hypnotize cause' i knew those were like the creme de le creme of turntables and i wanted them so bad" and he did get them after his 8th grade graduation. He then advanced on his skills as a DJ. "It was a hobby for me it wasn't something I wanted to make as my career and thats because i also rap...rapping was my first love...I been rapping since i could talk and write...but my love for DJing was hand to hand. "As i got older i realize i could make money doing something i love and i didnt have to wait to get discovered and sign a crooked contract and deal with the drama like up and coming rappers". He went from doing family and friend events and eventually move on to doing actual club parties and corporate parties. "This dude that use to work at my high school he was a new young teacher there WUT UP ROY!!! he started an after school program and he had his DJ equipment there OMG i was sooo happy, long story short he left and I ran into him one day and that led to me helping him out doing club parties and other events. He introduce me to serato scratch DJ program and all that because prior to that I did a few club parties but i was still carrying crates LOL but that all ended very quickly. I do all type of events tho baby showers, clubs, corporate parties, block parties, school parties its alot of money in DJing its no real party without a DJ. As long as its music and people its a need for a DJ....hip hop started with a DJ remember that"
