Connect 4 is going to compile a who's-who of midlands electro. To start it off we need to collect pictures and biog details. At the next Connect 4 (May 8th, The Island Bar, Suffolk Street, B'ham) Candee Photography will be on hand to take pictures of any bands, DJs and artists who would like to be included. So if you're up for it, scribble your info down, put on your best togs and come along to the 8th May and look for the lady with the lens! This time 'round we've got a live performance from Plant43 (AI Records) who'll be laying down some claustrophobic yet propulsive Motor City techno, alongside a slightly more off-kilter laptop 'n' sax performance from Manchester's QXTC (Hippocamp Records, "Autechre meets Gorecki in a crack lounge").
And of course, we'll also have DJs playing an anything-goes wide-spectrum totaltronic selection featuring the likes of aphex twin, battles, boards of canada, the books, broadcast, cylob, the flashbulb, four tet, germlin, holy fuck, hood, kid 606, matmos, max tundra, mouse on mars, polysics, the postal service, prefuse 73, squarepusher, stereolab, amon tobin, tortoise, venetian snares, luke vibert, xiu xiu, susumu yokota and whatever else we can find on our ipods on the night.
