deep house set - oasis - november 2008 - (1hr 13min) http://soundcloud.com/zenmonk/deep-house-set-oasis...
A deep House music set recorded live on a early Saturday morning, 11-29-08, before a gathering of House heads in Brooklyn NYC USA
Eduardo Roberto Martinez, aka zenmonk, began his journey in 1986, mixing Freestyle and Hip Hop music at local block parties and gatherings throughout the New York City area. However, just as he was getting into the groove of the emerging House music scene, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1988 and began to travel extensively throughout the world.
He made it a point to visit night clubs and parties throughout his many port of calls throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe. In 1991, after fighting in Operation Desert Storm, he returned to New York City and took up the decks once again as a means of supporting himself while attending university.
He found work among the many people he would meet throughout his day to day life in the early 90s. He coupled his love of mixing music with his love of dancing and would often participate in the raves that were thrown in NYC back then. Mixing music and dancing were his most ultimate forms of expression.
In 1995, he began to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe, for his day job as Technology Consultant for a large consulting firm. During this period, he concentrated on producing and remixing music. And on it went, until 2005, where he began focusing on mixing music full time; Vinyl, CDs, Ableton Live on a Mac Laptop – he has progressed to the point where he uses all three mediums to get his message across.
What is this message? He loves music and only wants to share it with like minded people.
He has had many names throughout the years but has settled into the name, zenmonk, due in part to his practice of Zen and his roots within the Buddha-Dharma. At times, his taste in music reflects this practice and is able to convey what he cannot express with words.
