Books
Recent Read: "the Forger's Spell" a true story by Edward Dolnick. Smalltime painter in WW2 Nazi occupied Holland decides to deceive the artworld by painting in the style of the revered Dutch artist Vermeer. big part of story is Herman Goering: Hitler henchman being swindled; paying millions for these forged paintings. More than you want to know about 16th century art.
About me:
Living on Kauai these past seven years is; as good as it gets. No place I'd rather live. After going to sea in the Merchant Marine thirtyfive years and living in Washington State; Kauai is paradise.
Without any background in radio; I Started five years ago working as a volunteer at
KKCR :the island community radio station.this has really been fun; and an opportunity to play music by Artists who are not totally commercial n or mainstream.
I do the"Den on the I-10" show with Peter Cameron Tuesdays at 10 pm on KKCR. Featuring music from Artists who have roots from along Interstate Ten; the road that goes from LA to Jacksonville, FL.
This is an area where I visited and spent time the many years I went to sea on ships in the Merchant Marine.
Here is a link to one of the show's supporters that you may enjoy visiting:
Jimmy's Roadside Cafe. You can open the Musicians page to find a list of the Artists who get regular airplay on the"Den on the I-10" show
Who I'd like to meet: People that were once in my life, but through my moving around and going to sea we've lost touch with each other. And interesting people, whether you be local, or a visitor to Kauai, and anyone that sailed in the Merchant Marine now living in "paradise".

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

Hey Dude,
Thanks for the shout out and the airplay. Yep, us Bowlwinder are lowclass. Would you want us any other way? Keep up the awesome job and we'll let you know when we've finished the CD.
Thanks for playing us! If you liked our version of "folsom prison, " you might like our version of "brand new key." Melanie herself told us she liked our version...called it dark!
