Dave Magario: Live at The Q
physical/digital release: 01|26|2010
When I was a toddler, I was bashing on a tiny octave and a half keyboard. Slowly, over the years, I figured out the subtleties of one-key-at-a-time melodies. I learned by ear, watching my dad practice for church. Being the son of a preacher man, Christian hymns were a huge part of my musical upbringing. At 13 I started writing for piano, focusing on "composing" instumentals, though I didn't read or write sheet music. But after a year of fine tuning a handful of songs, I combined my love for writing poetry with the music and songs poured out of me. Soon after high school I bought a guitar and started all over again with the learning/writing process.
January 2009 I released my first solo recording, an acoustic EP "demo for the solo listener." This EP had various incarnations throughout the year since I was burning the CDs and packaging them myself. It served as a classy demo to sell or give away to anyone interested
Now, on January 26, 2010 I will release my first full length album, which happens to be a live one! What began as a halfhearted test of a digital recorder turned into a fully formed, realized dream. A Live Album. After 2 1/2 months, and 6 shows at the cafe, I captured some of the most honest moments I've ever felt on a stage. A snapshot of the many shows at this cafe, "Live at The Q" will certainly stand as a landmark in my journey for a years to come.
The Q was kind enough to let me take over the cafe every other friday. In that time, I recorded almost every show in hopes of capturing those rare moments of honest and open communication with friends & fans. This album will be available in physical format as well as digital through iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, and many other services.
