DM Celebrant was borne in Uganda, Lugazi town of Mukono district; in a family of 5 children and raised by a single mum an grand mum but in a humble home.
At a tender age, DM Celebrant started singing in his Nursery school choir and later joined Lugazi Community Boarding Primary School. In 1987, DM led his Scouting Bridge to shake hands and perform before the Ugandan President Yoweri Kagut Museveni and the late President Sankara of Burkina Faso, an experience that will never leave DM’s mind forever.
In 1992, Dm joined Missouri Band at Maganjo which later he left after getting born again. Two years later, DM Celebrant assisted by his brother Michael Nkosi, was enrolled into Professor. R Kyambadde’s gospel band Kingdom Shines.
In 1994 DM together with the Kingdom Shines band travelled to East, Central and Southern Africa. They performed in Tanzania; Dar-Es-salaam, Dodoma and Mwanza, before travelling to Zambia.
While in Zambia, they were treated to a red carpet at Mulungushi International Conference where they met the country’s leaders. According to DM, being treated to such dignity meant that God as paving way for his ministry.
DM ministered at Zambia University which was attended by at least three thousand people and later paid tribute to the Zambian National Team the Red Devil who perished in a plane crash in Cameroon.
On return to Uganda from this gospel tour, DM lost his elder sister, this greatly affected him to an extent that he abandoned music and got back school at Kitante Hill School, later advancing to High Way Academy and Makerere Universty Business School.
DM’s mother was bitten by a snake, not only once but twice in which she nearly lost her life, but Jesus stepped in and kept her alive. That inspired DM to write the song “Prayer” one of the hits on his 2006 Blessed album.
In 1998, Dm moved to the UK to continue with his music career, where he formed a gospel band called The Celebrants; where part of his name “Celebrant” comes from.
He is currently part of the Worship Team Ministry at Way to Heaven Ministries (UK) where he minister in songs and saxophone playing.
