I dig laughter, music, family, friends, gigs, a good hang, food, hikes, art, eager students, traveling, meetin' new folks, going out to a show, dancing, wine and just about anything that would register as another life experience.

I was raised in the Bay Area and began my musical journey at age three when I played my first set of drums. The son of a bass player, I found myself born into the rhythm section while sitting behind my dad's bass rig and my uncle's drum set. This profound introduction into the world of live music would set things up for the rest of my life.
I still have the same rush of excitement just before downbeat as I did when I watched my dad get ready for his gigs. Watching folks smile, dance and just enjoying the moment of good times is the shit. Not to mention those of us on the band stand. Musicians can create a crazy amount of energy of their own and that too is quite a rush.
So that's the night gig. I'm also responsible for teaching young drummers and percussionist the art of laying down a groove. Teaching is awesome. To open someones mind with rhythm and groove is kinda cool. Its not so much the students skill that will move me, but its his or her desire that get me going. I've been teaching percussion ensembles along with outreach programs and private lessons since 1990 I got plenty of stories, lets have a drink and I'll share some with you.
So there is that, just like any other weirdo I'm always down for a good hang some laughs and constructive (or nonconstructive) conversations. I like just being, whether I'm inside, outside, a dive bar, someones living room or a hipster bar its all about the company that will make for a good time. I can never go wrong when hangin' with family and friends. There are far too many laughs going down for anyone to get down. Yes there is a sensitive side :) I'll sit and listen, then I'll get up and split...naw we all could use someone to listen to us get shit off our chest.
I also like watching pro sports games when shit is on the line for those cats. I don't have any favorite teams I just like a good game, some good sportsmanship with a dash of mega ego is always entertaining.
So unless I make it into the NBA...hahaha no I'm way to tall, I'm sticking to my mantra; to continue preaching rhythm by day and making a beat and a buck by night. You can peep my website for any of that info at www.dmfdrums.com. Cool enough take it easy, peace.

Who I'd like to meet: Thats a hard one for obvious reasons. With so many badass cats in the world it is difficult to list. But here is a small handful...Sarah Vaughn, Erykah Badu, Howard Zinn, Donny Hathaway, my Grandparents when they where young and bad ass!!!
That was a great performance tonight with the John Santos Sextet. Your solos rocked the house. The band's chemistry is solid, and I appreciated the new songs. I hope that the six of you will record sometime.
Yeah, hi, David. Listen, I know a great little spot to eat at. It's only about 20 miles south of Oakland and 12 miles east and there's a windy road for another 9 miles and its open 7AM-7:45AM, then opens from 10-10:15AM, reopens at 5PM and open until 7:30PM. So, wanna go there after the next gig
Family!! I hope you've enjoyed your first week as a newlywed! I can't wait to see you guys again. I was thinking of maybe taking a trip up to San Francisco sometime soon, but when I work out the logistics I'll talk to Liza and see what you guys are up to :)

Yo D.Flo, congratulations on the wedding. I heard it was great! I was waiting for you at Stacy's, but I guess "Band Camp" went a little long so I had to take off. I did meet Sonny. Talk about a chill dog. After greeting me at the door, he found a nice piece of carpet and slept the whole time I was there. He was still sleeping when I left. Hope he was okay. Congratulations again!
ha thanks!! Yeah life is getting a litle stressful. Im actually gonna tech at Johanson and gotta get another job, and then theres school...life is really starting!
Happy birthday, belatedly! I'm sure you're still celebrating, right?
As my present to you I'd like to offer a custom hat or a personal training session. I'm thinking of exiting the music biz to focus on far more lucrative career opportunities in haberdashery or steroid sales.
