Murphy plays guitar and spent much of the roaring '80s as a touring guitar tech for some of the best shredders of the Metal Era," including Jon Butcher and a 6 year stint with Kirk Hammett as well as many others. He also racked up studio credits for these and other artists during that period. As a graduate of Bryan Galloups School of Lutherie in Big Rapids Michigan, Murphy holds a Journeyman Certificate in the building and repair of both acoustic and electric instruments.
