This is my 3rd album. The first self-titled album was released in 1996 (dang. that makes me feel old). The second album was recorded with a band called Sign of Jonah. That was an exciting time but, unfortunately, we had to split up because our other careers pulled our four band members into four different cities that were all up the East Coast.
Now, I've finally been able to put together a musical project that reflects my passion for the gospel. The gospel is backwards to everything we know and expect. We value money, status, influence, education, strength, skill, wisdom, etc. But Jesus said things like "blessed are the poor" and the "first shall be last" and "my strength is made perfect in weakness."
When this first became real to me, it floored me because of its shocking implications. That was Jesus' point. The gospel of God is different and reverse of the values of human beings. Everything is backwards. I have spent most of my life chasing after the things that the world offers: accolades and the approval of others, success in ministry, and material goods.
Now, I will spend the rest of my life unlearning what I have learned and seeking to lower my self to become last.
