    D. Mike's Interests
GeneralMusic: playing, writing, recording, listening, collecting, holding incendiary opinions about, etc. Playing softball, Squid-style. Trivia. Watching the Cards and the Rams. Politics. Reading. Faith. And not to mention Ron Paul 2008 - Hope for America
MusicFaves: Neil Young. Guns n' Roses. pre-hard candy Counting Crows. Def Leppard (and I'm not sorry). Bright Eyes. Death Cab for Cutie. Sufjan Stevens. John Michael Talbot. Dashboard Confessional. Cowboy Mouth. Van Morrison. Prince. U2. The Who. Liking these makes people think I'm all diverse or whatever: Jimmy Smith. Maceo Parker. Chick Corea. Wes Montgomery. John Coliani. Miles Davis. Louie Armstrong. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Liking these makes people think I'm hipper than I actually am. Or maybe the opposite: Paul Westerberg. Talking Heads. Soul Coughing. Elliot Smith (r.i.p.). The Polyphonic Spree. Morphine. The Kinks. The Killers. Hooverphonic. Geggy Tah. Chloe Day. Cake. Built to Spill. Jeff Buckley (r.i.p.). Elivs Costello. Velvet Revolver. R.E.M. Oingo Boingo. Nickel Creek. Carole King. Jethro Tull. Yes. Black Crowes. Incubus. Soundgarden. Peal Jam's ten but nothing else by them. The Hooters. Dog's Eye View (no seriously, they're worth a second listen). Freddy Jones Band. Crowded House. Tori Amos. Ryan Adams. Bob Dylan. CSNY. Buffalo Springfield. Live. Local boys make good (music): The Urge. Urban Blight Players. Prune. Shape. David Loeb. The Drew Johnson Band. Colony. simonnewcomb. File this under "inspirational (and don't worry, this section of the record store has pretty girls on the album jackets, too):" Adam Bitter. Matthew Baute. Karl Zimmerman. Matt Maher. Steve Angrisano. David Haas. Chris Tomlin. Matt Redman. Cleary Music Project. Priestie Boyz. Kede-R. Exodus Two Zero. David Crowder. The St. Louis Jesuits. Liking these reminds people that I majored in music: Gershwin. Copeland. Bernstein. DeFalla. Debussy. Gorecki. Holst. Ravel. Satie. Vaugh Williams. Vivaldi. Ives. Bach (J.S. and P.D.Q.). Beethoven. Byrd. Mussorgsky. Galway. Mahler. Grainger (Percy). Purcell. Claude T. Smith (r.i.p.). Malcolm Arnold. Eric Whitacre. Issac Albeniz. Robert Russell Bennett. John Dowland. Valderabano. Francesco Da Milano. Segovia. Tarrega. Bream. Fennel (r.i.p.). Stuff that's not as good but I still like it: Seal. Dido. The Police. Barenaked Ladies. Randy Newman. Eric Johnson (still not sorry). INXS. Macy Gray. Nelly Furtado. Dan Fogelberg. Filter. Dave Matthews Band (crash and earlier). Days of the New. The Cranberries. That "doot doot doot" song by Third Eye Blind (this one I really am sorry about).
MoviesI'll enter this when I have more time.
TelevisionI don't watch it anymore. I used to like The Simpsons, The West Wing, baseball and football, and probably a couple of other shows here and there. I've lived without a television in my home for over a year now and don't regret the decision one bit. I've lived in a place with cable for less than a year total of my life, so I'm not up on all the hip new shows. Like Benson.

   D. Mike's Blurbs
About me:
Ron Paul 2008 - Hope for America Though you can't know everything about everything, I know slightly more than most of my friends about the following topics:

-The Animal Kingdom
-Music Theory
-Haberdashery
-Mountain Biking
-Roman Catholic doctrine, discipline, liturgy, and particularly all the bells and whistles that go along with the clerical state.
-Neil Young.

Let me stress that I do not claim to be an expert on any of these topics, but like I said, in comparison to the majority of my friends (and there are exceptions), I can talk about these six topics with just that little bit more of information that makes me sound really smart, until you consider that most of my friends probably have more topics about which the degree to which their knowledge exceeds mine is greater than that to which mine exceeds theirs in these topics. Still, ya gotta go with what ya got.

Factoids: Musician. Sentimental. Patient. Conservative but not a republican--I didn't vote for Bush. Either time. Catholic, at one time a seminarian. I like the color Orange, and I always capitalize it. I use a Mac. I love St. Louis and hope I never leave this wonderful town. I don't really like myspace, I just did this because my friends wanted me to and I love them. I swear on my mother's grave (and she's actually dead, too) that I will never, ever EVER put a music player on this page, or make my layout so involved that scrolling through it becomes difficult.
Who I'd like to meet:
...my friends for a beer. Oh, and of course Ron Paul 2008 - Hope for America

Easy now. Don't give the man a big head. He has some good taste...except when it comes to all the weird shit he listens to.
