Demented (phillip j hawley) has been doing music before he could walk .it is woven deep into his very fiber. he grew up in raleigh N.C. and music music music. he got in lots of home trouble and ended up homeless for a while (but it gets better kids so dont get glum and bounce) and ended up in a boarding school in southern virginia where he got his first piece of software which was mix man studio 1.0 (a primative start to the reason 3.0 junkie he has since become but hey kids you gotta start somewhere) started rapping "just for fun" and because no one would believe such a devout metal fan would ever rap or even like hip hop at all. but one thing kept up falling after another and needless to say hip hop is all demented seems to do. but anyways he ended up in chicago where Marcelino and Mauro Navarro took demented's subtle interest for hip hop and thru exposing him to real underground sounds turned it into a full fledge digging addiction. several thousand albums later Demented finally discovered the true origins and aims of hip-hop and set out to master it. during this time period he really focused on his rhymes quickly becoming a very skilled writer but still nothing special. he got a shitty digital 16 track and started recording like crazy! But good old poor financial planning, no job skill and a shitty economy demented moved back home to NC where he got his first exposure to turntables and thanks to qbert's diys quickly became an extremely comparable scratcher. Around the same time The HITCHHIKERZ crew was born and, along with Z3, the Ecks-O, and B-Willis demented quickly upped his lyrical and production game fiercely. But Pizza Hut, dreams, and a never ending cycle of small crowds for big shows just wouldn't cut it and demented soon longed for chicago. He finished his first REAL EP "demented 4 ever" and set out for brighton michigan to crash with his parents for a few weeks before going to chicago and ended up staying for 3 years due to an incredible job opportunity at ANN ARBOR AUDIO, a major A/V design and installation company. he quickly finished his first full length "TROMBONE MAN" and started going to chicago on a regular basis were he reunited with an old friend....RASHEED!!!! whose production brought out deeper rhymes from demented then he had ever considered possible! soon after the CHOSE IN FEW was formed{angelic major chord plays}. also worthy of being noted is demented's side project EXPANSE OF MINDZ michigan masterminds like Flo-B-One, Annon-Amiss, and Buddy D where demented was schooled in letting go and really getting deep and lyrical. Demented Proudly admits that without the influence of Expanse Of Mindz he would "still be writing base level party shit and stupid stories about being lonely" "i still do a little bit" chortles demented still in pajamas at 2:00 "but i feel more free to just write and not be so concerned with what people like. If I just say what's really on my soul people will dig it. maybe not at first, but they'll come around eventually". but most recently DEMENTED IS FINALLY BACK TO CHICAGO so according to him "oh yeah it is so fucking on now!!!!!!!!!" Look out for the upcoming CHOSE IN FEW ALBUM, the sLEAP EP from sLEAP(Ralph lauren, Rasheed Demented and a few selected others), and The new demented EP MUSIC FOR DOWNTIME. so do us all a favor... open up your mind and let your soul take a listen!!_________________smack-uh-fyed

dude. the other day i was looking up old synths and was very happy to come across thomas dolby. one of our submarines came up and i knew i had heard it some where and realized i had heard it on your page. first off good fucking work on the song. your singing on it is stellar. aside from that good ear on getting down with dolby. that guy is a badass!
