Donielle Monique began writing poetry at the age of 13 and started slamming (competing) in 2006 after attending the Individual World Poetry Slam in North Carolina. She was a member of the 2006 Columbus National Slam Team, in which she was the Writers' Block Grand Slam Champion. She was also a member of the 2006 Rust Belt Midwest Regional Slam Team that took third place overall.
In November of 2006, she released her first poetry album, “Some Days I Am” on the independent record label, Black Air Press Music.

In March of 2007, she auditioned for the annual Columbus Arts Festival. She came in 2nd place receiving a 30-minute poetry feature in June.
She is the founder and MC of Wet Ink Erotic Poetry night, which has been successful for a year.
She also won the first ever Volunteer of the Year Award for 2007 from Poetry Slam Inc.
In March of 2008, she was named the first ever Women of the World Poetry Slam (WOWPS) Grand Slam Champion for Writers' Block Poetry.
Most recently, she became a member of the 2008 Columbus National Poetry Slam team and was named the Grand Slam Champion at Writers' Block Poetry. This makes her third time as grand slam champion and second time member of the Writers' Block team. She is also a member of the 2008 Rust Belt Regional Slam Team who recently became the regional champions.
