These melodic rockers formed in 2006 and it hasn’t taken long for them to create
a huge impact in their own backyard. Drawing fans in from around their region
not with Myspace, Facebook or email, but with that old word of mouth thing,
“Hey I saw a great band last night!" How many bands can book
the local Royal Hall sell nearly a thousand tickets and leave several hundred disappointed?
d’nile have played gigs up and down the country, mesmerising new admirers with every performance. With venues such as Number One Leicester Square, London, at which they played a showcase event in front of big-name industry figures; The Grand Opera House, York; Harrogate International Centre; The Cavern, Liverpool and two tours of Scotland under their belts, they needed a bigger challenge.
On May 16th 2008, d'nile became the first band to play the newly refurbished Royal Hall in a showcase event staged by Natalie Wright Productions. Harrogate’s famous Royal Hall was only re-opened to the public in April 2008, just weeks before d'nile’s showcase, by Prince Charles, after undergoing a £10million refurbishment. The sell-out night was a success, with nearly 1000 people in attendance.
Since then d'nile have gone from strength to strength with each gig they play. In June 2008 they revisited The Cavern to play another incredible gig at the famous spiritual home of the Beatles and were supported by hordes of fans who flocked to Liverpool to support them.
d'nile’s self-funded debut album Untouchable was released on 23rd September 2008 at an album launch held at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate, in conjunction with a release on iTunes. The 11 track album is all d'nile’s own material and to date the album has sold nearly 1,000 copies. The album was recorded at Soundworks Studios, Leeds and was produced by Will Jackson, who has also produced the Kaiser Chiefs, Pigeon Detectives, Shed 7, The Music and Embrace. Will also provided Piano and Keyboard for the Royal Hall show last year.
The Royal Hall provided the stage once again, on Friday 27th February, for d'nile to showcase new material and tracks from their debut album.
On Friday 24th April, 2009, d'nile became the first unsigned band to play a headline gig on a prime Friday night slot at Leeds' premier music venue The Cockpit. The gig was a huge success, with the packed venue screaming for more!
Chris Bell, Programme Controller at Stray FM, says, “I have worked with d'nile for almost 2 years now on live events as well as studio-based material and their name across the area is now linked permanently to success. Their attitude towards the industry is excellent, and the fact that they only play their own material is an added bonus. This is a band that will be around a long time, as will their ever-growing band of loyal fans.”
