Portland rock songwriter duo DnS Alive Shane A. Fortner, guitar and vocals, Dave Camarda, bass, vocals was formed in 2000 to make rock and roll for the masses. From their signature driving rhythms and image based lyrics DnS Alive has proven to be a formidable act of sonic vigor. Their first recordings were a mix of blues and psychedelic rock with the occasional updated 60s cover tossed in. With two front men, DnS Alive, have varied backgrounds and musical tastes which are represented in their music.
Dave and Shane met through a mutual friend in 1999 while both lived in Eugene, Or. Dave at the time was playing with Sepsis, a progress punk band. Sepsis fragmented into Bahg which grew with a cult following. Dave, growing weary of the constraints of sub progressive punk rock, managed to breakaway and form DnS Alive with side project acoustic songwriting partner, Shane.
After years of side project work and finishing Art school, Shane delved fully into music. Influenced by classic rockers such as the Doors and the Beatles, Shane added blues to the already eclectic pallet of Daves sub progressive punk to create their now signature style sometimes described as postmodern classic rock. Dave and Shane have grown to be fearsome songwriters who can morph between bouncy and poignant songs like 27 to bluesy industrial songs such as Static. Throughout all DnS Alives music there is a lyric driven undercut to produce swirling images and driven memorable hooks that entice the listener to revisit sonically created worlds over and over.
The future of the duo is insured with a long standing friendship and ambitious mentality. They continue to stretch both lyric and sound into other realms while maintaining a firm grasp of roots rock. With plans for future projects including a gallery tour of a Close Your Eyes Productions music based film with songs written and preformed by DnS Alive the outlook is vivid. Fans have climbed on board from across America and Europe to help us promote our steadily growing DnS Alive onslaught.

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church in Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, "You'd better give the quarter back.. It would be wrong to keep it." Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet." When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change." The driver, with a smile, replied, "Aren't you the new preacher in town? I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday." When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, "Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter." Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians and will put us to the test! Always be on guard and remember that you carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Christian'. Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. I'm glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder. God bless you; I hope you are having a wonderful day! If you don't pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen; if you do, something good mi
