The idea for Dr. Awkward was conceived by Nina at a local open mic night when she and Lauren did a fly-by-the seat of your pants version of "Where's Summer B?" with Justin which somehow, by the graces of the music Gods, turned out well. The band, which has been in existence for two years, creates their music in spurts, as they are all at school for various things in different places (Justin at Mason Gross for graduate work in clarinet performance, Mike at Princeton for his PhD in Operations Research and Financial Engineering, Lauren at Elizabethtown for psychology, and Nina at Bryn Mawr for political science and Russian), but they enjoy getting together in their hometown over breaks and making sweet sweet sounds.
