All types of general photography but especially alternative, goth, retro, pinup, glamor,fashion, etc. I also enjoy converting images to Black and White. About me:
DG is a native of NW GA. He graduated from CSTCC in 1977 and was employed in Radiology (X-ray) from 1977 until 2005. Married for 28 years he has 2 grown sons and one fabulous grand baby.The following is part of my 'resume",unfinished of course! All things church including teaching for 27+ years,vocal arts 23+ years,theater style dramas,nursing home ministry, choir director, sound reinforcement.Recreational sports coaching,BSA Asst. Scoutmaster, graphic design, wedding video and vocal work,2D and 3D graphic and multimedia art work,gallery posted art work in Chattanooga, Elvis Impersonator, certified Massage Therapist, Radiology consulting work and full time faculty member for Allied Health Program/ Radiology at CSTCC (1988-1991), HS/College mentor,45 cumulative years of community and charity work. Where is DGstudios?.....
About 15 min south of Chattanooga, TN. 1.7 miles from I-75 on Cloud Springs road. The Studio is in my home, a very neat, clean rancher in a residential neighborhood. The address is 24 Reynolds Drive, Rossville, GA 30741.
…..Would you describe your studio?.....
DG studios is a dedicated 16x30’ space that contains my office and the photography studio. Half hardwood floor and ultra white walls, seamless paper and overhead wires for fabric and props to be suspended.
…..Where do models dress and do makeup/etc.?.....
I have a guest room with full length mirror and plenty of space for all the models fashions and accessories. Next to the guest room is a full bathroom with a 3x5 mirror.
…..Can I bring an escort?.....
Yes. In fact, I encourage models to have an escort—especially the first session. I understand that personal safety is very important and models feel more comfortable in a new place with a trusted person by their side. However, an escort is not required. The escort is expected not to interfere with the session in any way but may be asked to help.
…..What about food/drinks/smoking?.....
I currently offer bottled water, sprite zero, diet coke, and coffee. The model and escort are welcome to bring food/ drink . Smoking is not allowed inside the house/studio but multiple areas (open and covered) are available when smoke breaks are needed.
…..What kind of equipment do you use?.....
I currently shoot with a Canon 30D digital SLR camera, fitted with Canon and Sigma lenses. My lighting is professional ‘alien bees’ flash units, large soft boxes, and pro stands. I have an eclectic mix of fabrics, props, accessories, and small items to augment the sessions. I do not currently stock fashion clothing, just some very basic accessories. I do have a relatively large collection of alternative, Goth, and edge weapons, etc for that genre of shoots.
…..Do I have to sign a model release?.....
Yes. ALL models must read, complete, and sign a ‘Models Release’. This is for your protection, my protection, and to avoid misunderstandings in general. If you are under 18, a legal guardian will have to accompany you in order to sign the model release, or sign the release in advance of the session, providing their complete information as requested. If you are under 18 and married, I will require your spouse’s information as well as yours. No signed model release, no photography, no exceptions. A new release must be signed at each studio session and on location shoots also.
…..Who owns the images?.....
I do. They are my property. I will photograph you, photo shop select images, burn you a CD or DVD (with full size images-not compressed versions), and give you a signed ‘release’ to use the images as you wish for printing, internet use, promotional purposes etc. I require my copyright to stay on the image unless you request an image without the copyright for merchandizing/ promo uses. In that case, credit for the photography must be evident along with the usage. I can do basic graphics on some the images at your request and include those on your CD/DVD.
…..Where will you ‘post’ my images?.....
My general rule is to wait until the model posts the images and then I will post the same images on myspace or Model Mayhem. If I lose communication with you I will eventually post the images of my choice from the shoot. I may also keep alternate images of you in my personal portfolio (not posted publicly). I keep all raw and photo shopped images in my archives.
…..Will you give me or sell me a copy of all the RAW images from the photo shoot?.....
Only under very special circumstances. I have done this on occasion and it often results in some kind of disaster.
…..I am just starting in modeling, will you help me?.....
Yes. I am currently helping beginning and experienced models to develop an editorial/commercial portfolio that they can use to approach agencies or prospective clients with.
…..Why do you not charge for your work?.....
I am in the process of developing my personal portfolio.
…..Can I communicate with you and ask other questions?.....
Absolutely. I always give prospective models my complete contact information. A phone conversation is preferred prior to the shoot so that we can carefully plan the shoot and get the most out of the session.
