In addition to his various solo ventures, David also fronts the electracoustic duo, TuTu Much, together with drummer/percussionist Sam (Samster) Earnshaw and the sunny, Caribe-vibe TrioTAMBOURA with Mary Knysh (flutes, mandolin, steel drum, percussion) and drummer Samster. He holds down the phat-bottom bass for the all-original Cape Verdean reggae band, Ras Moon & Monsoon, and is the colorful percussionist for singer/songwriter and Nashville recording artist, Bernice Lewis.
Influences
David Reed gives a tip of the hat in kind acknowledgement to the legendary country-blues/ragtime musicians such as Mississippi John Hurt and Rev. Gary Davis; American and British folk music; the early British rock invasion by the Stones, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, etc.; acoustic guitar trailblazers like Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, John Fahey, David Lindley, Jorma Kaukonen & Richard Thompson; Afro/West Indian music styles from calypso, quelbe, reggae, soca, mento & scratch band from artists such as Marley, Tosh, Burning Spear, Sparrow and the Lashing Dogs - for without these good people he'd not know what to do with his fingers!
