True Rumor

Mar 1 2008 3:12 PM

1.5 Million BC: Caveman Seamus Moller discovers fire.
1 Million BC: Mesopotamian Otto Boyland invents what is now known as the wheel.
1903: Orville and Wilbur Wright launch the first manned aircraft.
1908: Rufus Meko hands Einstein the pencil, which will be used to draft the Theory of Relativity.
2008: Not remotely as clever or industrious as their esteemed ancestors, TRUE RUMOR release their third CD “Songs From the Turnpike Road”. “Turnpike Road” - a sizzlin’ smorgasbord of twelve steamin’ slices of Rock & Roll - is now available exclusively via MySpace. MP3 Downloads of the CD are also now available via Amazon, Itunes Worldwide, Napster, and Rhapsody.

A Benefit For Bryan Hoffa

Sound of Music Engineer, Producer, and Musician Bryan Hoffa was diagnosed
with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a serious but curable disease in which the
immune system attacks the myelin sheath surrounding the spinal cord. As a
result, the nervous system is short-circuited and varying levels of
paralysis effect the body. Thankfully Bryan is now in recovery but it
involves months of physical therapy and a long time away from work.

Some of Richmond's finest musicians have donated their time and talents to
help the Hoffa family during this difficult time. All proceeds from this
show will go to their daily living expenses.

The Replacements: All Over But The Shouting

Oct 14 2007 5:42 PM

FROM THE PREFACE:

Back then was an incredible era in American music: a time when college radio, indie labels, fanzines, and independent record stores supported bands in a pre-Internet underground, and everyone felt some ownership in these insanely great bands. We put them all up on our shoulders, pushed them up as far as we could so that they could pop through the ceiling of the glossy music and entertainment of the day, like in Horton Hears a Who when the little people say, “We are here, we are here, we are heeeere!”

And some of them broke through. Some of them were heard. Some had careers and continue to have careers. The Replacements did not. The Replacements came like a comet, flamed out, and left the rest of us breathless, elbowing each other with “did you just see what I saw?” and vowing to tell anyone within earshot why they were special.
