(The energy of the ruby is gentle. It feels warm and comfortable. The energy flow is inward. It draws the energy toward the crystal centre. It feels like it is hugging you and as soon as you go with the flow, it will start to radiate strongly and become quite hot.
The energy that radiates from the crystal drawings can be very strong. If you start to feel overwhelmed, place your hand over the area of your heart, keep watching until you feel balanced again.)
Pioneered by PAUL HINNRICHS and accompanied by WILLIAM DOUGLAS and ALISTAIR McERLAIN, RUBY TUESDAYS began quietly, without a name, in the dearly loved IGLU bar (on Jamaica Street; in the Newtown) at the beginning of September 2005. A basic set-up, of one vocal and an electro-acoustic guitar through an acoustic amp, utilized by thoughtful, imaginative, valiant and audience-orientated muscianship suited the intimate atmosphere of the small bar. The night ran every Tuesday evening and immediately gained a following.
GAVIN DUVET came on-board in December 2005 to helm the procedings. Spring of 2006 saw, WILLIAM, ALISTAIR and PAUL being joined by DANIEL McGEEVER and LEWIS GIBSON as regular performers and after a couple of false-start namings, the congregation settled upon calling their evening RUBY TUESDAYS. With an ever growing audience RUBY's became something of a weekly celebration and also a defiant affirmation of a common-oneness through spirit. With the return to Edinburgh and arrival of ROSSCO GALLOWAY, in June of 2006, the RUBY's show was complete. RUBY TUESDAYS withdrew from local media listings soon after, stretched to capacity and nearly ready for a bigger boat.
RUBY played her last show at IGLU bar on Halloween of that year.
RUBY TUESDAYS re-opened on the 7th, of November, 2006, moving uptown to 99 HANOVER ST bar (on 99 Hanover Street). A much larger establishment, 99 HANOVER ST bar gave RUBY an opportunity to expand its capabilities, with a much larger P. A., a sound engineer and and in-house drummer.
At 99 HANOVER ST bar, RUBY's music has been able to breathe, able to cater for bands or solo muscians who, at the blink-of-an-eye, gain accompaniment from ten fellow muscians.
RUBY TUESDAYS took a break when the 99 HANOVER ST bar closed, at the end of August, 2007, for a major refurbishment.
RUBY TUESDAYS will return as DOCTOR RUBYS.
DOCTOR RUBYS will take place on TUESDAYS at 99 HANOVER ST bar, beginning the 27th of NOVEMBER 2007.
