"Doctor Swing" is a Chicago-based band that plays Django Reinhardt-inspired late ‘30s jazz. Each member of the group brings to the repertoire an expertise in a number of other styles, including: Klezmer, Bulgarian Wedding music, Delta and Chicago blues, Classical Arabic music, and Free Jazz. Influences range from modern Gypsy Jazz groups to Selim Sessler and Albert Ayler. The unique format of Clarinet, Resonator guitar, and sometimes Oud allows the group’s arrangements and original compositions to meld a range of harmonic ideas atop swing rhythms.
