Numerous and varied; from Prince Far I to The Pixies, The Smiths to Senior Coconut, Dr. Dre to the Dead Kennedies, Joyce to Jimmy Page, get the idea!..
Influences that have really left a huge impression on me are: Bill Evans Trio, Bajofondo, Portishead, Nitin Sawhney, Chic, K&D, Jobim
Hi,
My name is Roshan Wijetunge, a.k.a. Tosh to those of you who don't like all those syllables or don't speak Sri Lankan. I'm a bassist, acoustic and electric, I've been playing the low notes for over 10 years now, although I studied and worked as a mechanical engineer for a good while before taking the plunge and going full-time muso. For me it really began back in my days as a London teenager, aspiring to the ever changing musical waves that washed over me; hip hop, house, soul, indie, psychadelic, rock, reggae, ragga, trance, ambient, you name it... Since then I've slowly worked my way through various instruments, musical styles and careers and places to end up here, an eclectic bassist living and playing in the Bath / Bristol area.
I do a lot of jazz playing these days, but I love a wide variety of music and would never want to be limited or pigeonholed into any one style. Over the years I've been involved in all sorts: latin, samba, funk, reggae, rock, circus music, folk, country, african, indie, d'n'b, electronica. I love the variety and it's given me the opportunity to perform, compose and record with some fantastic groups and individuals.
Musically I'm open to most things and I'm also a bit of a geek at heart so being able to do something creative with computers, samplers and synths is a source of joy (must be the engineer in me), you can hear some of this work on this page.
I'm based in Bath now, but have lived and worked in Bristol and Barcelona over the last few years. I'm getting more established round here now and am enjoying becoming of the magnificent Southwest music scene.
My main projects at present are the hip new jazz trio The Dale Hambridge Trio, (check out the freshly uploaded tune 'Free Refill' on this page), Latin and Salsa band K'Chevere , violin-driven world jazz outfit Radio Banska and the funk originals band Fattyboombasstic. Also there's a few other things on the boil, including an exciting new Latin group called La Clave fronted by Javier Moreno, as well work with some great musicians such as Pete Bernard, Andy Hague, Azhar Saffar, James Lambeth and Joan Davis.

It's a place for bands to explain how they book shows. Comes along with news on web technologies, recording gizmos as well as music industry trends and anecdotes.
