Three of Dogbone members, John King, Jon Claasen and Tim Claasen, have been together for twelve years, playing original compositions by John King overlayed with Jon and Tim's musical creativity. New members, Greg Moore and Eliot Claasen, have added horns, percussion and extra bass to Dogbone. Playing without rules to bind them, the group is encouraged to experiment and explore unusual chords, rhythms and emotions within each composition. Feral jazzrock is a category that fits Dogbone's style. They send wild, unleashed soundwaves through the mind; down seldom used neural pathways. John King is a sculptor artist from Los Angeles who started teaching himself guitar at 16. By his early twenties he would be creating a new song every few weeks. . . These never got written down or played for the public although he continued to practice and play though his life. Both Jonny and Timmy Claasen are from Humboldt County and have played in a diverse number of groups, from the early Commotions and Mason Dixon to the Merve George band, Earl Thomas Band and others. Having a long history with music and performance has given them the freedom to play in many styles and to explore with intensity the strange notes or innovative journeys that happen Dogbone's way.
