| Doghead: General Info
|
| Member Since | 3/21/2006 | | Band Website | doghead.me.uk | | Band Members | Good news: Doghead is no longer just Jamie McCarthy! Now there are five of us ... Jamie Bradley - Cello and Vocals, Laura Cubitt - Concertina/Indian Harmonium and Vocals, Jonathan Allen - Piano/Organ/Indian Harmonium and Vocals, J.S. Rafaeli - Guitar, Bass and Vocals and Jamie Vocals and Guitar. Lots of lovely vocal harmonies happening ... ah the joy of singing and playing together ... | | Influences | Low, Nick Drake, Beirut, The Hidden Cameras, Sufjan Stevens, Stars of The Lid, Talk Talk, John Cage, Sigur Ros, Gavin Bryars, Arvo Part, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, The Velvet Underground, Sound Art, The Magnetic Fields, Brian Eno, Cornelius Cardew ... I could go on and on ... | | Sounds Like | Emotional folk/indie/ambient music with a strong element of string arrangements.
Lots of the songs are a kind of sparse, minimal Folk, but new songs in development are sounding faster and fuller with a hint of Morrissey and more than a dash of Beirut.

| About Doghead |
|
After several years of working on recorded stuff on my own, Doghead has finally launched himself into group music making. It's so great! Lots of new songs to check out on the player with more on the way ... and we're having such a great time getting a live set together. The songs are changing a bit ... maybe in some ways more traditional as we focus less on electronics and more on playing instruments and singing together. There are still tracks with the slowness and spaciousness of the earlier stuff, but there are a few faster songs now as well. Really looking forward to doing some gigs soon ... We're rehearsing some ecstatic born-again animal singing on the track Bounce ... think maybe it's frightening the neighbours a bit, so the sooner we get out performing the better. Thinking of a name change too owing to coming across another band called Doghead on iTunes, so will keep you posted. Dog x
