About me:
Do Good 4 Debt is an exciting new project founded by Ian Wallace. He was a student that had combined debts of £14,000. He desperately wanted to take a gap year before trying to get a job in his chosen field which he had worked for at University, Law.
After doing a number of factory jobs with the entire wage going on monthly debt payments he decided this was not how he wanted life to be after working so hard at his studies. One lunchtime in the factory diner, Ian heard the factory owner on an adjacent table moaning that he doesn't donate any money from the business to charity because he never see's what good it does, "you just donate and that's it, any cat or mouse could have the money".
So Ian hit upon an idea and how he could ensure companies donating to charity could clearly see the difference they are making, while getting rid of his debt. He wrote to a number of companies in his town and told them about his debt and that they could sponsor him to go and work with a charity for a period of 8 months, with the money going to pay his debts off.
Initially he didn't get much response but after setting up talks with various charities and hearing about their individual projects he detailed these more in a simple brochure Ian had designed and printed by friends. Ian then got an excellent response and was able to pay his debts off immediately. He then went on to work with 3 charities in his local town.
He got a part time job in the evenings and at weekends to supplement his expenses at the charities and has now completed his charity work. Ian then prepared a report of the time he spent at the charities and came back to the 3 companies that had sponsored him and presented it to the whole company, pointing out exactly what difference they had contributed to that specific charity.
Ian now is on his second charity project and is in Rwanda, Africa helping with a local community. Ian will be returning to the UK in November 2007 and plans to launch Do Good 4 Debt as a full time venture getting corporate companies to sponsor people who are in debt to go and work in charities, in return that they pay off their outstanding debts. Do Good 4 Debt will officially launch in January 2008.
Although launching in January 2008, Do Good 4 Debt will be accepting members immediately and it is limited to 500 at this stage.
