Passions: taking my dogs to Dog Beach, watching their long ears and floppy jowls flap in the breeze when they stick their heads out the car window, laughing with my husband and daughter over really stupid, goofy things, reading, listening to new music by great singer-songwriters, singing, making art, getting up really early in the morning when no one else is awake, hanging out with my sisters and my friends, working on my website, volunteering.
Music
Playing and Listening: I like alt-folk, singer-songwriter stuff, and some straight-ahead jazz. I play a Taylor 712 acoustic guitar, mountain dulcimer and hand drums (ashiko, djembe). I played with an all-girl band named Rosewood Station for three years-mostly music festivals and acoustic cafes, but we also opened some mid-sized concerts and were supported by the local community radio station. I also collect songs about dogs (what a surprise!) but don't usually perform them myself.
Movies
Favorites: Best In Show, My Dog Skip, Must Love Dogs, The Wizard of Oz w/Toto, of course, Lady and the Tramp, Little Miss Sunshine (no dog, but GREAT movie!), Garden State (brief, but very funny dog scene)
Television
Not a HUGE TV watcher, but I like The Dog Whisperer, Divine Canine and a few other dog-related shows. Guilty pleasures are So You Think You Can Dance and On the Lot!
Books
Dog themed books: Travels With Charley, Rex in the City, Because of Winn Dixie, To Dance with the White Dog.
Other: The Secret Life of Bees. The Art Spirit by Robert Henri, Wicked
Heroes
My inspiration: Assistance dogs, rescue groups, shelter volunteers, those who educate others to help make the world a better place for all of us.
I am: 90% Dog, 10% Cat
I found out that I am a dog at heart - and it's not a bad thing at all!
The quiz told me that I love unconditionally, and I'm extremely loyal.
It went on to say that, while I may act silly at times, I'm really quite smart - and a good learner!
(Now where's my treat??!!)
OK Guys- this talking Doggie Mail is hilarious!! You can use the "text to speech" and try out different voices or even call in a message in your own voice- PLUS you can dress the dogs up and change their scenes. The dogs move their mouth while "speaking" what you gave them to say. After you make something silly, you can e-mail it to a friend. It's a hoot!!!
I'm an artist and a teacher, and I love *everything* about dogs!
I have two spaniels- an English Springer Spaniel and a Cocker Spaniel/ Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix. Here is a video I made of my swimming Springer, Sofie:
Are you as crazy about dogs as I am?
I think that dogs add quality to our lives, and help us take life a lot less seriously.
If you don't have a dog in your life yet, but are thinking seriously about it, you should know that taking care of them and figuring out which type of breed is right for you is not all fun and games.
After all, you will have your dog sharing a good part of your life with you, so making an informed decision about the type of dog that will be a good fit for you and your family is important to both you and your dog.
Be sure to check out my companion website to this MySpace page, Dog-Paw-Print. There are many resources there to help you on your quest to find the perfect dog for you and your kids.
After doing a lot of research before we got our Springer from ESRA (English Springer Rescue America), I decided to make it my quest to help others find the perfect dogs for their families.
This led me to develop Dog-Paw-Print, a website created to help others learn about how to choose the best dog for them, and celebrate all the wonderful things that go along with the joys of having a family dog in your life.
I have always had dogs all through my childhood and into adulthood, and have successfully passed on my passion for dogs to my daughter. I hope to share some of that passion with you too.
Dog-Paw-Print is the site for you if you need a little help in the selection process, or some information about how to troubleshoot ways to help your new friend fit in as comfortably as possible once they are home.
If you are looking for ways to have - like some funny dog videos that you can watch, some recipes for training treats that you can make together as a family, or some amazing and inspiring true dog stories that you can read about, you will be happy you visited.
We also have fun tools for the kids in your life, like coloring pages with positive messages about dogs to help children learn more about how to care for their new companions, and some fun dog games that they can play.
We have collected some hilarious dog pictures, video and other material that we'd love to share with you on the site, and more will be coming. We will also be adding the capability for sharing some of your favorite pictures and videos as well, so be sure to check back often or subscribe to our RSS feed if you enjoy the site.
At Dog-Paw-Print, we will answer important questions with you, as you discover what breed characteristics are a good fit for your family lifestyle through quizzes and helpful information that you can read on which dog breeds are the best for families with young children.
BREAKING NEWS!! My daughter's photo was chosen for a 2-page spread in the current issue of Popular Photography Magazine this month, plus there are multiple shots of the same photo of her on two additional pages (May 2007 issue- Check out page 38+). It's is now online at the POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY website, but it isn't nearly as impressive as seeing it in the magazine itself. Here is a shot of the first two pages of the article, so you can get an idea of how big it is on the page!
As was the case in the article I linked to above, the photographer who took the photo is my friend, Lisa F. Young (LisaFX on iStock Photo) Here is a link to the picture that was used from Lisa's portfolio.
